Due in Feb 2008

Hi I'm new to this forum. I'm due March 15. Have been to Annerley to check things out. Has anyone found out more about the Antinatal classes? And when is the best time to do them. I'm now 16 weeks.

Julia

Welcome Julia!
I'm 18 weeks (my first - due March 8th) and thinking about ante natal classes too. I have done some investigating online about Annerley and it seems like a really good option. I'm having the baby at the Matilda and I hear that you can sign up for classes there too, but that they are usually over subscribed.

I am in Japan right now and not moving to HK until the end of October, so any classes will have to wait until then. Have you found any others worth considering?

I am having my baby at Adventist so I have checked their classes. They are cheaper than Annerley, not sure if it is a reflection of quality (Hope not!), but I think I will try their first. They have English class in September, then alternate it with Chinese class the following month. They advised me to take the class after week 25. So I guess if they have one in November I will take it.

Re names - We haven't found any names yet and we don't know the gender yet...

Lolipop - agreed with you, going to the gym to have a workout will make you feel better and more balance. Just watch out don't lift heavy weights. I am thinking of joining yoga next month as I think my running part will end soon...

Does anyone know where we can take infant CPR classes - prefer weekend or weekday evening classes. YWCA only has Friday afternoon classes.

Thanks

Hi Peainpod, Donkey and Wasabibunny,

Here I am back at this forum again while I am at work. i.e. productivity = 0 !!!! (can't help it!!)

I am SOOOO panicking about booking a slot in any hospitals at the moment as we still couldnt make up our mind whether we would go to a private one or a public one!! Since we live in Tuen Mun and we heard that the Tuen Mun Hospital 'sucks'. I have therefore started looking elsewhere. I phoned up few private ones like the Adventist etc. They said they are all full in early Feb 08!!! On the other hand, we are thinking, r we better off spending the money on buying more good stuffs for our baby? The medical plan from where I work will cover me and my family absolutely everything except giving birth !!!! lucky or what?!

Baby stuffs, oh yes, buying abit at a time. I am hoping to get them in earlier before my bump gets too big and then I wont be able to/ want to travel as far...we are looking for a car seat + bassinet + push chair at the moment. There are too many models selling out there, has anyone got any good suggestion?? Daffer x

hi all expected moms,

I'm now in my 16 wks and due date on Mar 13, 08. Planned to delivered @ Canossa and prenatal class registered to start there by nov.

I'm living @ TKO and perhaps we could meet up for a chat.

Where to buy good bargain crib? Suggestion pls....

Florence(Mai Ye)

due date is 5th feb - second child - dont know if it is a girl / boy - looking forward to a surprise. We have a 2 year old boy who is starting to notice his mummy's huge tummy and thinks everyone has a baby in their tummy! Has anyone found any good books to read to the first child?/ even to prepare for 2 children in the home??

Wrt morning sickness - have you tried ginger in tea?/ ginger biscuits?? Some people like dry toast tho' that made me worse. Another friend said Beigels worked for her as they filled her up. Good luck, hope the sickness passes.

Looking for a reasonably priced dresser /changing unit - any ideas?

Due in January

Hi, I'm new to this forum and moving to Hong Kong in November. I am due January 20 with my second (another boy, my first is 17 mths. old).

A little scared about the bed shortage in maternity wards in HK, but I guess that even happens here in New York, just depends what day you go into labor (I was five days late with my first). I emailed Dr. Ghosh's office by recommendation and will have an appt. with him when I arrive. The nurse also told me she would register me at Matilda...but I thought they were full until April!? I am just going to hope for the best!

We are looking to live in either Pokfulam (The Bel-Air) or somewhere in Repulse Bay. Are any of you all living in those areas?

Dear NYCMOM,

Welcome to the forum! When do you arrive in Hong Kong? I am moving to the Bel-Air in a couple of weeks. The facilities there are wonderful and they have playrooms for the little ones. Repulse Bay is also lovely if you like going to the beach for walks but it's not really stroller friendly as there are lots of hills and stairs.

You would be very lucky if you get a room at the Matilda, I also heard that it was fully booked until March.

MaiYe,
They sell inexpensive cribs at the Eugene club but they are mostly made in China and looks a little flimsy to me. You could also consider buying 2nd hand.

Hi Julia and all,

I am finally at 15 weeks..ps-r u calculating from the 1st day of missed period or from day it was conceived? If from 1st day period, then I am 17 weeks. Due date was preponed by obs to Mar 19th...
And we do have a name for our little girl =)

Well, I just came back from Rome for vacation, and heading to US for few days for B-trip.. Then I have dr check up this sat. Hope to see my baby girl grow. She was 7cm long abt 3 weeks ago.

I am delivering at Sanatorium. Anyone at the same place?
MaiYee - I am attending antenatal at Canossa in Nov too..Would be nice to finally see u in person.

Hi all!

Welcome to the forum :flower:

Yes, we have a very definite name for our little one! My husband's mother had a dream just before we conceived that I would get pregnant soon with a boy and his name would be 'Lukas'. As soon as we heard the name we just loved it, and it felt so right! All very spooky LoL

Can you believe it! We are moving to the Philippines today!!!!!! It has all happened so fast, I can hardly believe we are leaving. I have had a great time here. I hope you girls don't mind if i continue to look in on this forum(?).

Got to go now, car arriving soon to take us to airport ... ooo er!

Take care

xxxx

Hi Wasabibunny, our maternity is 2 months apart.. or else, we could have chatted during our stay at the Sanatorium.. Oh well.. thanks for showing your bump BTW. Mine is abt similar size as yours now.. and I am 16 weeks.

I definitely grow in leaps and bounds. I'm now in my 24th week and have put on about 20 lbs! I go a week without gaining much and then put on 3 lbs in one weeks... no wonder I feel full all week.

When are we expected to gain most of the weight? I remembered I read some articles on weight gaining that there are a few weeks during the pregnancy that we will gain weight very quickly.

I have gain 4kg so far and will turn 22nd week tomorrow.

Has anyone heard of Breast feeing counselor? Someone will go to your home to help you on breast feeding.

I think weight gain is quite personal. I gained steadily throughout the first trimester and at 16 weeks, have already put on 5 kg. A friend of mine didn't gain any weight during the first 3 months and then on her 16 week visit to the OB, gained 4 kgs that month! But I think it's during the second trimester that the doctor monitors weight gain more carefully (as in they get worried if you don't gain regularly/steadily during that period since that's when your baby starts to bulk up.

My sister had some problems with breastfeeding (i think she wasn't producing enough milk) so she had a lactation expert from Matilda (where she delivered) to come to her home tohelp her out for a few months after she gave birth.

24 weeks wooohooo

I just had my 24week check-up and I am so happy to know the baby's healthy and growing well. He seems to have a big head! I hope I don't need a c-section...

I asked my doc about weight gain and he said it's really personal and he'll only comment if the baby's extremely big or small for the gestation. Otherwise he'll let patients gain at their own pace.

:yeah2 feeling good

back again

Wow! This forum has really grown (like my tummy), its been ages since i wrote so wanted to re-introduce myself. I'm due Jan 3rd with my first little girl. I may be behind the times, but i'm only just starting to think about equiptment - what does everyone have on their 'must buy' lists? That due date is really creeping up fast now!

Hi jodymo,

Congratulations, i am a week behind you. I have already bought the moses basket, a cot, some cloths and a playpen, all were second hand and very new. Our family is buying the rest...feel like i am jinxing it by buying too much but don't want to be lugging stuff around at 8 months! I am due January 11th with a little girl too. I was wondering if any of you gals were living in Tung Chung or DB so that we could set up some group. I am the only one pregnant amongst my friends and have no-one to talk to about pregnancy!
