Due in Feb 2008

i am due end of april 1st, so may be a little later then everyone in this forum. i am having severe morning sickness, but find that if i stick to fresh fruits, and try to eat cool things i can stomach a bit more. nothing oily, fried or warm. perhaps try some grapefruit -- that seems to be what is my biggest craving this time around.

I've gained about 10lbs and am on my 16th week, so everyone's sounding about right, but I think the weight really packs on in the 3rd trimester.

Glad to hear most morning sickness has gone away - mine is slowing subsiding as well, but much slower than expected.

For those who were looking at ob/gyn, here's my doctor details:

Dr. Lam Yung Hang
Room 208 St.George's Building
2 Ice House Street, Central, HK
Phone: 2877-3280

Very good ob/gyn and extremely thorough in his visits. I know many people who visit him or his partner and are very satisfied. He takes the time to answer all my petty questions :)

I'm 22 weeks now and starting to crave a lot of sweets and chocolate. It's been really difficult helping my diet health!

When did everyone's first-trimester morning sickness disappear? Mine hasn't been so bad - the discomfort was mostly queasiness rather than actual vomiting - but I was really looking forward to moving past that once the three months were over. But so far, I still wake up most mornings (or sometimes late afternoons) with some queasiness - and I am now wondering: oh no, will i be one of those who will have that with me for all nine months?? Also, does anyone get that constant tinny (metallic) taste in the mouth? Chewing gum helps, but again, I'm hoping that it will go away after the first trimester!

My morning sickness started to ease up in the 4th month but it took till the end of month to go away altogether. I felt a lot better overall starting my 5th month. Hang in there. 2nd trimester's suppose to be the best! You will feel better and everyone else will start noticing your bump :)

Hi,

I found that my morning sickness went after about 13 weeks and then when i reached 15 weeks i actually started to feel really good and most days had the energy back to do things without needing naps.

I am 23 weeks at the minute and still find that generally i am feeling good. i have bad days with tiredness if i try doing too much. My main problem at the minute is heartburn, so i am heading out to buy gaviscon tomorrow as everybod seems to swear by it.

Hope all the early symptoms go soon and you start to have the nicer ones such as a proper bump appearing and little baby kicks!!

chocolate

Wasabibunny: I agree about the chocolate and sweet food. after not been able to stomach any until 15 weeks i now keep craving chocolate and whenever we have dinner out i nearly always have dessert when before it never bothered me. i have put on about 12 pounds at 23 weeks so it is not having too much of an impact yet, but i know by january i will be regretting it!!

25 weeks here and gained 18 lb's ... judging by everyone else and the premise that when you hit second trimester you generally gain average of lb per week I think it sounds ok!

With my first I had put on a lot more weight by now but during the third trimester stopped gaining - somehow I just lost my appetite.

I cant see me losing my appetite this time round lol, so I recon I'll end up around the same as with my first (gained around 2.5 stone).

My disappointment is that the weight seems to have almost all gone to my butt (and belly of course)! ... where are my magical boobs to die for?

*sigh*

:Butbut

I was lunching in IFC and decided to stop by Zara for a quick look. Their maternity line is in, but I was not impressed. They only had a very minimal selection and only the dresses were kindda cute but already out of sizes (I only saw large sizes). All the tops just look like oversized t-shirts and not worth it.

Hi Donkey - what exercise have you done? I was trying to be real careful during my first trimester so walking was my only form of exercise. But now that I am on my 13th week, I am desperate for some exercise.. Just feel sooooo fat.. and the belly feels so tight, like a balloon that is going to burst. I've gained about 3kg now..

Hi Lieny, yeah I am a bit an exercise addict :)

Not sure of my BMI before pregnancy but I am always active and competing.

I also had checked the Zara maternity line at PP as well. Same as you Wasabibunny, I am not impressed. They only have two short clothes racks with one rack for purely t shirts and the other rack with some one dresses, but not very appealing.

My friend told me that Muji actually have some nice non-maternity wear that can be used as maternity clothing.

I thought I would share my bump :yeah2 This is today at the end of 22 weeks.

It is so funny how bumps differ ... !! .. I am 25+4weeks, but at 22 weeks had a much bigger bump! ... mine really sticks out!

Got a bump gallery on a different forum and it is so amazing to see all the different shapes at the same stages!

Would post mine but you make me feel like a fat moo wasabibunny lol

What a lovely bump you have, and looks like not an inch of extra fat

:wow:

:yeah2

I think it just looks smaller in lounge clothes! You can definitely change the look by wearing different clothes that either show off or hide the bump. People have commented that my bump looks pointy. Where is the bump photo gallery? Would love to see other people's bumps!

Ooo - pointy = boy?!?

Mine is very pointy, but definitely wouldn't be able to find cloths that hide it :clown:

It is a babycentre forum - the one for UK - January 08 Birthcub.

I'm finally back on the internet. Have been busy last week with the move and settling in, also visited some apartments, but still have not seen anything I like. Not easy to drag a 14.5 mth old kid around with a big belly.
Wasabibunny, I just saw the photo of ur bump, u're lucky it's still small. Mine looks like I've swallowed a huge ball.
That reminds me I have to book an appointment with a Obgyn here. Am thinking of seeing this Dr Ghosh that people have been talking about, any of u seeing him??
I've found a way to still get into my skinny jeans. If urs sits really low on the hips, u can still get away with it as it buttons just below the bump. Another way to still wear ur jeans is to put a little rubber band ( the one which u use to tie ur hair up) through the button hole and loop it around the button ..... voila !!!!

welcome back motherOF2! I also came up with the rubber band around the button hole idea :) But I am carrying quite low so I can't even zip the fly :haha: I think boys are rumoured to be "pointy" shaped and I am having a boy so it works out.

yes the 20 week scan is so much fun because you get to spend quite a bit of time looking at the little one and of course it's also the 1/2 way point!

I've had a wonderful day because I've been procrastinationg about the GMAT which I finally took today and did very well on (95th percentile hehehe). I'm hoping to go back to school next year since I think that will allow me to spend more time with the baby than full-time work. I am so happy!!! :yeah2

MotherOF2, I saw Dr Ghosh for the first time in September and he was fantastic; very reassuring, very informative, very easy to talk to. I found him kind, but not overly 'soft'. He's great if you want someone in control, but not mothering. p.s. I am also using the rubber band technique! Very effective, but not sure how much longer I can keep it up as the bump is getting bigger! (17 weeks).
