Hi Heidypie,

Sorry, we can't seem to get it together! The vote this week is for Friday, I have to work Wednesday and a couple of us have a doctors appointment on Thursday.
How about the week after?

Cheers,

Matty.

P.S We now have a separate thread for the lunches.:bump:

Hi Matty and Mamas,

Was great meeting you both yesterday, the time just flews by. Thanks for the tip on fish/flax seed oil Matty. I have got some that is specifically for the brain....let's hope it helps with the vagueness and memory lapses! I didn't get a chance to say bye Matty...look forward to the next meeting.

Hi Betsy,

Was great you managed to catch us. Will be in touch about AWA as work will pick up again but maybe once the kids break up for summer I'll have more time.

Sorry to hear you've been having a hard time XOX, let's hope it's all behind you now.

Hope the rest of you are all well and look forward to the next meeting

Lunch

Hi Matty,
Yes Friday the 5 th May would be fine for me. But this is a national holiday, would that be a problem for those who have the day off for family things?
Otherwise. the following week.
I have my scan on 2 May, hopefully we'll find out the sex of the baby, we're really excited. Will be really glad to pick up tips you guys have on memory loss, didn't think there was anything you could take to help. People at work have noticed :-)

Hello October Mummies.
Boy am I glad I found you, I am new to this forum, and don't know any pregnant women, or any women with children for that matter, in Hong Kong, so I need help!

This is my first pregnancy and my due date is the 1st October. I live in the Mid Levels. Am very keen to join you on one of your lunches, but work full time, so shall keep an eye out on the lunches thread for a day that suits.

Off to search for threads about what sort of pram is suitable for Hong Kong!!

Hi Heidypie,

I have this great book that breaks down what each vitamin and mineral does during pregnancy (i'll bring it to the next few lunches).
Supposedly, lack of essential fatty acids (omega 3,6,9) is responsible for a 2-3 per cent shrinkage of a pregnant woman's brain!
If you don't get enough from your diet, the baby takes it straight out of your brain!
Taking fish oil of flaxseed oil supplements can help stop the vagueness.

Cheers,

Matty.

Hiya

Hi Matty,
Thanks for info on flaxseed, i heard it's also good for constipation :-)
Hi Gidget - My due date is 4 Oct, so fairly close. Looking forward to meeting you. I think we are having a lunch on 5 May which is a national holiday (place yet to be decided). I work too so this is a good chance to meet some other mums-to-be.

Pregnancy Clothes

Hi!
Just want to share with you that I went to the Ladiesmarket in Mong Kok and found two maternity clothes stalls (both are located next to a junction, one is one the left side and one approx. 500m further down at the next junction on the right side). I found the bigger stall better as they had more choices. I bought a great jeans for 108 HKD, several other summer trousers for each 98 HKD and some tops and basic t-shirts each around 50-90 HKD. You can even ask for a small discount..

Have to mention that they as well sell the ugly huge maternity dresses, but when you take some time to look you can find some cute tops and basic shirts and great trousers/jeans.

Happy shopping! If you need more information pls feel free to drop me a Personal Message.

Ciao

Great tip Salzi! Do you know which junction the stalls are at? I was at Jusco and browsing their maternity section. Similar to your experience, they had lots of frilly tents and other ugly things but if you dug deep there were some great finds. I found some cool jeans for under $400 but will give your place a go. My problem is that being tall, jeans and trousers are often too short, which is why I was so surprised at finding something in Jusco.

Hey Matty I think your fish/flax seed oil tip is working. I have been feeling much more on the ball and can do my Suduko again!!

Off for my check-up today. Take care everyone

Hi Sunrays,
unfortunately I can not tell exactly which junction as I was just walking through the ladies market and found the two stalls. Best is you take the MTR, Exit Bank Centre and go to the Ladies Market. You should then go towards Dundas Street. Then you locate a maternity cloth stall on the right side at a junction and on the next junction there is a maternity clothes stall on the far left side (which is the bigger stall). You will see the typical huge ugly maternity dresses, but you can make some great finds...some of the clothes you can find at much higher price at the maternity clothes shops.

Hello,

Nobody post here now. Hope everyone's well.

What's the remedy for sorethroat? i have it today so i'm feeling low.

Cheers.......

Hello mamaS, no idea for sorethroat (but my always advice is always CALL YOUR DOCTOR DONT AUTOMEDICATE!) but I wanted to check if you still want to come at my place if I call the indian woman ofr my waxing. If yes, when are you available so I can book her at a convenient moment for the 3 of us.
Alex

Hi Alex,

How are you? just checked my eyebrow, still in order as i just pluck it the other day ;-) It will take a week or two before it becomes messy again. So go ahead and call the indian lady. I'll just join you next time. BUT if you made an appt anytime, just let me know please and i'll see if i need to have it thread. Thanks.

I gargle with salt and water, read it in the book. Hope it gets better if not i'll call the doctor.

Anyone found out the gender of the baby? I know Matty will have a boy. ME TOO!!!
:agree:

Congratulations mamaS!

So far we have two boys in the group.
If I remember rightly, most of us ladies at the first lunch thought we were having girls.

Cheers

Matty.

Great news MamaS, that makes it three boys as heidiepie is having a boy too! I find out in two weeks...can't wait. I can feel baby moving around....feels faintly like bubbles bursting

Hope you are feeling better MamaS, I have the opposite opinion to Alex, try to sort it out on your own, I don't believe in all these medications they dish out are any good unless it's REALLY bad ; ) I normally make fresh ginger tea with lemon, ginger is anti-inflammatory and lemon has vitamin C. Echinacea is really good for getting your immunity up but not sure about taking it when pregnant

Alex, I spoke to Sarah Pickup and she was very friendly and helpful. She won't come to the delivery room but I may use her as Annerly Midwives never got back to me despite calls and e-mails so it looks like that was not meant to be.

When at Dragon -i last week xox was sharing with us her knowledge on when and what to get in the way of bras. She said Elle Macpherson maternity ones are the best...probably for a bit later. We were not sure where to get them, I fould a web site that will deliver:
http://hongkong.zodee.com

:baby:

Take care everyone

I realized my sore throat is allergy, i started turning on the aircon the whole night and i have clog nose and sore throat when i wake up. I'm fine the whole day. I have to get a humidifier, hope it helps.

I don't feel anything yet, sunrays, we're almost the same week, looking forward to feeling that soon. That's a good website for bra, i got mine at Motherworld for $150 less 10% each, nice as it's already a nursing bra, comes with a removable pad.

I was surprised that we can find the gender at 16w, the fetus legs are widely open so doc says he's 100% sure.

Just heard that Jilians on Wyndham St also sells maternity bras. The brand is Anita, haven't seen them so not sure how they are. Might be worth checking out.

Hello !

Sunrays: Dont misunderstand me, I'm don't like either the doctor who put you under medications systematicly and specially when you are pregnant, that's not what I was saying. Exactly the contraty though... I'm a strong beleiver in doctors for security: I'm against self medication specially when you are pregnant. I'm very afraid of the "not sure" and that's why, curing my self under a medical supervision semms better to me, like that, you are sure...
ps: I had hypersensitivity of my mouse while pregnant, bleeding a lot when I brushed my teeths & my doctor told me to avoid acid on my genvivis (lemon for example)

mamaS: Sasha my baby has the same allergy as you: As soon as summer arrives (and aircons light) he gets sore throat. Unfortunatly there is nothing to do as there is aircon everywhere in HK... Do you really thing you need a humidifier as it is 84% humidity today?!

So happy there boys in the groups, you'll see, boy are fine ;-)

Sunrays: I'm glad you spoke with Sarah, I hope you'll get on well with her. She has been great to me so I'm confident.

mamaS: I'll keep you posted about when is my appointment (I can wait 1 week but definitly not two !!!)

Here's another boy to the group ... Finally get to see baby's gender today ... it's actually quite amazing that baby seems to listen ( or perhaps it's just coincidence ?) ... before the review today, i was telling baby to be good and open up its leg so that doc can tell mummy & daddy if it's a boy or girl and we start our shopping soon ... and whosh , the first image that appears on the scanning screen was baby's leg and its penis ! Any baby girl in the group ?
