Which Playgroup in Tseung Kwan O?

Meet up next Wednesday (Mar 21) afternoon

My son is 1 year old. I live in Hang Hau and love to meet up moms around TKO. Any moms interested in meeting up next Wednesday (Mar 21) afternoon?

Eunice

HI Waiwaiber, indeed, there is a small entrance to YWCA at the side of OCean Shores and you will likely miss it if you are not looking hard. The classes are run by an Asian lady who speaks good english. From memory, the classes are for kids aged at least 1.5 years old to I think 3 years old. There are two streams, one running twice a week 45 mins each, and the other running every saturdat 1.5hours each. The fees are more reasonable than other english palygrounds around the area. I paid 600 for 8 classes. the good thing is you register your child on a month-by-month basis ie you have the option to pull your kid out to another playgroup or take a break at the end of the month term. The classes are mainly interactive singing with actions, a little snack time then story reading. My daughter quite enjoys the classes, but I must admit she fancies her newfound friends than the teacher, as kids do at taht age (oh yes, my daughter is 18 months old). My helper, who brings her to the classes mostly, said the classes are far better and livelier than the one run by Ocean Shroes clubhouse (you aware of such a group?). You can certainly PM me if you wish further information.

BTW, I am glad to know of a neighbour of Ocean Shores. I live in Tower 16 and am a stay home mum. I am originally from Malaysia but lived in Australia since my teens. How about you? Are you itnerested to meet me say at the playground one day with our kids? Let me know.

Ichung, you mentioned you are in Ocean Shores as well. You interested to meet up as well?

Additionally, eunice and others in the area, are you interested to set up a mummy meetup group for mummies around this area? Can we do it earlier than next Wednesday? I love dessert and coffee so anyone interested to meet me coming Friday for afternoon tea at Pacific Coffee or any of the nice cafes in Hang Hau or other shopping centres around here? Any recommendations of good places to go?

Meet up coming Friday (Mar 16)

Sure. I am Ok on Friday. I can go to Ocean Shore or stay in Hang Hau. Please tell me the date and time.

Friday before 15:00

Just have an appointment at 15:30. May we meet on Friday at anytime before 15:00?

Eunice, how about lunch on Friday then? So far there are just you and me, and hopefully more people will join us. Do you know of a nice place to go for lunch in this area? I just moved here and so am not very familiar with the surroundings. I have, however, heard that Lardo's in Hang Hau Village is excellent - have you been there before and are you game to try? I was told lunch set menu cost around $65++ or something like that - is that within your budget?

Let me know when is a good time for you, and we can do the final confirmation on Thursday night. Cheers...

Thanks a lot Mummybee for your detailed reply. I have immediately enquired with the YWCA and decided to have a go. The important thing about playgroups to me is LOCATION though I also heard a lot about some other playgroups in Causeway Bay, Tin Hau, etc. My daughter is now 2 and has joined the clubhouse playgroup for at least 1/2 year. Even my helper said it is boring. I also participated for a few times. It is not very organised and the teacher is pakistani and not speaking terribly good English. I originally wanted to try the baby buddies in Tin Hua but it's too far (in that I am not sure if my helper can manage the traffic to bring my daughter there safely). Thanks again.

Friday lunch

Hi mummybee,

It's hard for me to enjoy my lunch with my son besides me as he just needs to walk and walk and walk. Do you mind I come over to your clubhouse so that my son can have fun with yours and we can meet up at the same time. If you prefer to come over to my clubhouse (of course my estate clubhouse is not as grand as your side), I can show you the parking. For the time, how about after lunch at 13:30?

Eunice

Hi Girls,

I am also live near TKO. I have a 18 months old son and would like to join a playgroup. May I ask the enquire contact number for the playgroup in YWCA? I also would like to join your mommy meet up group. Unfortunately I am not free this Friday. Will you girls let me know when you next meet. Thanks a lot!

GCV, i cannot remember the YWCA number but you can visit their website for details. if you live nearby, you should go there personally as I don't know waiwaiber's experience, but the young man on the phone told me there was no english-speaking playgroup and I only know of it as i went there to look at their other facilities! Hope you live nearby.

Eunice and Stanley, so far there are just the three of us interested to meet on friday. Is that alright with you both? Stanley, do you have any preferences as to where and when you wish to meet? Eunice, I am a little confused - do you mean we meet at our playground with our kiddies (after we have own lunch) at 1.30pm? I am thinking more of a cafe setting without the kiddies so we can chit-chat in peace. I have brought my daughter with me before to mummy groups but I ended up chasing her more than getting to know the other mummies!

Having said that, I am totally flexible. I wouldn't be able to bring my daughter as she naps from 12.30-2pm. Let's confirm on Thursday, shall we?

Lardo in HangHau Village on Friday at 12:30

Hi mummybee and Stanley,

Sure, I can leave my son at home and get to know more moms in this area. May be we can bring out our kids later and get them play together in our next gathering. Let's have lunch at Lardo in HangHau Village on Friday at 12:30. Any other suggestion about the date and time? Stanley, can you make it? Once confirmed, I will PM you my phone number.

Eunice

First Meet

Hi Eye

Can you tell me where exactly the place to meet ? Unfortunetly I have to bring Stanley but he can sleep on the way.

Hi Stanley, Lardo's is within Hang Hau village although I am not sure of its exact location myself. Perhaps Eunice can help with directions?

Eunice, 12.30pm Friday is perfect for me. Shall I make the reservations, as I was told they can be quite busy? I will PM you my contact numbers. After our first meet-up, we should definitely have other gatherings with the kiddies in the ocean shores clubhouse. I went there yesterday and gosh, the indoor playroom for under 1.5 is filled with good-quality educational toys and all of them have batteries in them! There is another playroom with climbing thingis for older kids. They apparently close certain hours of the day so let's talk more on Friday and we can arrange a suitable time to go. There is also an indoor heated pool for babies and toddlers that we can bring our kids to. It should be FUN!!!

Hi Eye and Mummybee
Sorry my internet at home has some problem right now. I'm in Cafe right now. Can you please send me sms aboutthe final decision tonight in my handphone 62019752. My name is Liana. I live here in Hanghau area about 1 year now. The easy way maybe just have caffe drink for the first time for example in Starbuck in Hau Tak shopping mall just beside Parknshop. Or if you want to have lunch maybe The Tasteful Kichen the new rest near MaritimeBay, it's really easy to find. Tomorrow 12.30 is ok to me...I have to bring Stanley but he can sleep trolly. Ok I'm waitting for your news........

Liana, I have sent an sms to you re tomorrow's meet-up. Just in case your computer is fixed up, we are meeting tomorrow at 12.30pm in the Starbuck's you recommended, ie Hau Tak shopping mall next to Park n Shop. Tasteful Kitchen, Eunice mentioned, is rather small so may not fit two strollers comfortably (another mum is joining us with her child). I will be having lunch in Starbucks itself.

See you and Stanley tomorrow!

New comers living in Tseung Kwan O

I have a son who's 21months old now.
Any good choice of playgroup or kindergarten can you tell me?

Play groups in Tseung Kwan O

There's an English childcare Centre in Po Lam, Metro City Phase 1 called La La Land. They specialize in baby classes from 10 - 18 months and 18 - 24 month old. Although, you may be waitlisted as the classes are very popular.
