I think that stress is very bad for you during pregnancy, and I see alot of HK moms so worried about every tiny details that I wonder if all that nervous energy is actually worse them them than the odd drink or coffee.
Everything in moderation. I had my own morning coffee every day -- sometimes I'd mix decaf and regular beans to make it lighter.
Occasionally, like once a week, I'd indulge in a small glass of wine.
On Valentine's Day, my husband took me out and I treated myself to a rare bit of sushi.
My child is perfectly fine. European moms I know all drink modest amounts of coffee / wine, and their kids are fine. Japanese ladies eat sushi, and their children are among the most healthy in the world.
I'm not saying you should have a bottle of vodka or a platter of raw meat, of course.
I hate to say it, but HKers are a bit paranoid. When my baby was a few months, and I was still breastfeed, I pour a tiny half-glass of beer during a group dinner, and a HK friend SCREAMED at me and took away my glass. It was incredibly rude and stressful.
Anyway, I managed to BF 8 months with no problem, even with the odd coffee or drink.
Even my HK parents -- the baby's grandparents -- are more relaxed.
So long as you're not out of control, just enjoy your pregnancy.
