Twin Birth & Delivery

Hi Teeks, we couldn't make the physio classes and I doubted they would be that useful anyway - was already doing loads of yoga so was much more limber than the average mum. Instead, we had Hulda of Annerley Midwives come to our house and do a two hour session of labour positioning and massage techniques with us. This was very helpful not only for the exercises but also for her advice on dealing with the hospital. I really suggest you contact her as she is wonderful and will do something tailored to your needs. Here's her website: www.amidwife.com

Good luck and thanks for sharing your pregnancy with all of us! Well done on making it so far through your pregnancy too. In case you're worried about not getting to 37 weeks, my nephew was born at only 28 weeks as his mother was very ill. Today, he couldn't be healthier and is smarter than other two year olds, not the other way round!!!!

Hi Teeks, I was at Tsan Yuk today as well! Did you go in the morning or afternoon?
Sorry about your missing the antenatal exercise classes.
I wonder why they won't let you go to the excercise classes after 32 weeks ?
BTW, are you going to the antenatal health education class tomorrow ?
I think I'm supposed to have written my birth plan by now, but I actually haven't started it yet........
No, I haven't decided on which hospital yet - will find out more about cord blood banking first.........

Yes Corina, I was there yesterday morning from 10.00-12.00.
I am also going to antenatal health education class tonight. Are you coming?
Oh, if so we must meet tonight. Let me know what u going to wear tonight. Heee...this is going to be exciting. I think you'll know me, I am the tiniest in the group..haaa. I am asian, 5feet and have short shoulder-lenght hair and my belly is really sticking out in the front. I will attend the class alone tonight. Hope to see you there.

Yes I'm going tonite - I better go sort out my birth plan.........or at least make a start!
I might have seen you then yesterday then - my appt was 11.20am.
I'll be wearing a light green short sleeve top and black trousers. And u?

Don't know yet..perhaps one of the parachute maternity dress. R u sure about short sleeve top? it's getting bit chilly since last night. Anyways! I'll be sitting on the 3rd row on the right hand side near the pillar thing. C ya!

I am currently 11 weeks pregnant with twins (my first pregnancy) and will be moving to Hong Kong in July. We will find out in two weeks whether they are identical or fraternal. I really appreciate all of your discussions on the hospitals and dialogue about c-section or natural births. I will check out the MOMs as well.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a Dr. in Hong Kong who is experienced with twins?

We are so excited - but nervous and anxious at the same time. I wish all the best for all of you who are expecting too!

Thanks!

hi, I'm 16 weeks preg with twins. second pregnancy. for those who were due in december and early jan (Corina & Teeks??) I hope it all went ok. doubtless you will be an invaluable source of info for those like me who are due later in 2007.

Even though second preg, am still very nervous...mainly about the health risks (my 1st was 4 weeks early), I'm pretty small so how are they gonna fit? and also about the practicalities......especially with a 2 year old competing for attention too!!

A&A - not sure when you wrote your post as the date says 14th May, which seems is before the other posts!!!! but if it was May, then you are well on your way with the twins by now.

K

Hi All,

I am not a MOM but a FOM(Father of Multiple) Hope you all doing well.
May I know from the MOM who already gave birth that whether you babies were deliever "on time"? How many weeks were they in your boby before they went out?
I afraid mine will come out too early.....

Many Thanks!

Mine were born at 34 weeks. Had to stay in NICU for 15 days. They're 2 years old already, and seem to be doing fine :burnout:

My Doctor suggested my wife to deliver by 36 weeks, dont know whether my babies need to stay in NICU......?

Mine were underweight, that's why they had to stay there. I think if the babies are over 5 lbs (can't remember the exact weight) they will not need to stay in NICU.

Thanks! I think it should be 5 lb as the standard, looking forward to receive my babies above standard weight!

at 34 weeks I was so miserable I begged my doctor for a scheduled C-section at 36 weeks, however at my 36 week appointment, somehow I decided I could hang on a little longer and had a scheduled C-section at 37 and half weeks.

I know under 35 weeks you have to go to Queen Mary (if you are located on HK island) as there is a chance of needing NICU unit which is only fully equipped at QM.

I had the girls at Adventist Hospital

also 36 to 38 weeks is considered full term for twins!

Search for twintalk - a great website with a superb forum to ask any twin questions

Also, twin babies born at less than 34 weeks cannot breathe for themselves, and therefore need to be in NICU.

Hi All, Just an update to you all about my babies, they were now borned at 35.5 weeks and can leave hospital together with mother, Thank God!!

Other Mom, dont worry, everything will goes fine! Bless all of us!

Vaginal Twin Delivery.

I thinks its a shame HK doctors are so averse to allowing women to give birth vaginally with twins. It IS possible!! Obviously the babies have to be in the right position and if they are then theres no reason not to try.
I went full term with my twins and had a wonderful team of doctors who encouraged me to give birth naturally. They were my first babies too. We are blessed with modern technology and ceasarian know-how...but it seems to me HK are too keen to cut.
