I have heard twice now actually of babies having a bad reaction to the chlorine. Both of these babies already had excema and their skin reacted badly to the chlorine in the pool. One of my friend's babies was only months old (not sure exactly, maybe six months?) at the time, but my other friend's son was nearly two. I guess particularly if your child has sensitive skin, it's worth maybe testing it out first my just letting them dip their feet in or another small area rather than their entire bodies. Better to have a small reaction than a big one, I guess. BUT this is by FAR the minority. Swimming is generally safe for babies as young as 1-2 months old, provided they are well cared for in the pool and they have adequate sun protection.
