taking baby in pool

i took my son into the pool when he was 10 weeks....

babies spend the first 9 months of their "lives" in utero/swimming.... why not take them when it is hot out? just becareful that you have sun cream to protect their skin.

Our baby girl started "swimming" at 8 weeks. We put a float around her neck to keep her head above the water. She cried the first time and got used to it pretty quickly. She started kicking quite naturally. So do give it a try.

We took our son when he was between 2 to 3 months old... He had a wet suits with half sleeves and legs and sun cream (babies skins are not protected at all against sun).... no need to say lots of people stared at us ! But he enjoyed it, we just didn't stay too long as the water was not so warm.

I have heard twice now actually of babies having a bad reaction to the chlorine. Both of these babies already had excema and their skin reacted badly to the chlorine in the pool. One of my friend's babies was only months old (not sure exactly, maybe six months?) at the time, but my other friend's son was nearly two. I guess particularly if your child has sensitive skin, it's worth maybe testing it out first my just letting them dip their feet in or another small area rather than their entire bodies. Better to have a small reaction than a big one, I guess. BUT this is by FAR the minority. Swimming is generally safe for babies as young as 1-2 months old, provided they are well cared for in the pool and they have adequate sun protection.

Concerning the sun cream, I just bought an organic very high protection level from B2B.
About the chlorine, none of my kids ever had skin allergy or reactions, and even little nappy rash... I guess a baby with a bad skin condition might better avoid when very young ?

The first day my son in the pool was 6 months old. I think it's better to drop them in the pool earlier than later so they can get used to the water earlier. My son was bit scared when we put him into the water and we even dipped him under the water and he just swim and float naturally. I am not sure the chlorine will do any bad reaction or harmful to the skin but i didnt see any bad reaction on my son. However, the pool was not very clean and i saw a lot of dead mosquites floating on the water, since then we didnt go back to the pool.

We just took our daughter into the pool for the first time (she hadn't quite turned 5-months-old). She loved it! We slathered on some sunblock and had a great time!

I have recently bought my going to 5 months baby to pool. He loved it! I am just wonder how long can he stay in the outdoor pool for the weather now? I usually will get him up about 15-20 mins. Can it be longer?

of course it can be longer.... it can be as long as you want! he's a baby, not a piece of bread. he won't disintegrate after exposure to water. i would only be concerned about the sun.... make sure you use sun block.
