Has anyone tried the Japanese Camellia Oil from Elemis? Thinking about whether to buy the Elemis one or the Clarins tonic treatment oil. Pls share your experience

Hi CherA,

Don't know anything about the two brands you asked about. But I used the cream from Mother Care which was really wonderful - and it's so cheap too. I started using it from the 3rd month and there is NO stretch mark anywhere. When I bought the cream for my friend about 2 months ago, it's still $39 each. You might want to consider it.

Hi there!
I tried Clarins (the yellow oil, right?), well, it didn't work for me, I had scretch marks all over my belly:bawling: , but Thanks goodness, they started to kinda fade away (by themselves), there are still stretch marks on my belly, but not as bad as the first few months after I gave birth. I totally give up now... since I think there's noway to make them disappear once they are already there!

I also use the Mothercare cream which is great! But Capital is true- if you want to tell if you will get stretch marks and how bad, then ask your Mum if she had any and how bad they were.

If you do get stretch marks and want them to fade- keep them out of the sun!

Dear all, thanks for your advice. Yes I know it's genetic so I won't know if I am getting stretch marks until my belly shrinks I guess!!
Actually I've been using Palmer's but still find the breasts and belly itchy during the day. Last week I decided to switch using the Clarins oil. It's very nourishing and smells really good. I don't know if it works for the stretch marks but it at least eases my itch. Now I don't have scratch every now and then!

i totally agree with Capital on the genetics part. i used the mustela cream as soon as i found out i was pregnant religiously every day and i still got loads. mum got loads, sister got loads.

the one good thing i did inherit was springing back into shape quickly after the birth. mum was like that, sister was like that.

shea butter

hi,

I do believe to a great extent it's genetics but you can help nature too! Before I started showing, my GF advised shea butter to "prepare" your skin (I guess once you start ballooning you are already stretching your skin) so I used L'Occitane shea butter oil on my belly (esp around the navel), thighs, hips and breasts and once I started ballooning I used Mustela as it was alot easier to apply - happy to say I didn't get any stretch marks, but then again neither did my mum!

I don't have one singel stretch mark after 2 kids and did not use any stretch make creams. I did suffer from itchiness though and I used Body Shop body butter, cocoa and coconut where my favorite

cherA, if you'll still be coming back to this thread. yes, i've used japanese camelia oil & i'm still using it now (my baby is already 19mths). it's very good, for me it's better than the one from clarins. i've also used the mustela 9mths which is also very good. i used them all over my body.

L'Occtaine shea butter oil you can buy in the the L'Occtaine shop in IFC, just by the Starbucks. The one I used for a bit was the Maman and Bebe shea butter. I found the problem with it was it took ages to soak in and my dogs loved to eat it!

I didn't get any stretch marks at all (my mom didn't have them either). but while I was pregnant, I used Jurlique's Hops Lotion with Jojoba Carrier Oil.

sanny07, mustela 9 mths, i bought at mannings in jardine's lookout. but there is mustela shop in The Galleria, 9 Queen's rd central. it's on the 2nd floor arcade. if you enter from queen's rd central, take the escalator up 2nd fl, it's on your right.

Just bought Mustela $260 at 'bebe dream' in Ocean Terminal in the kidz section (wow that's a crazy area on a nat. holiday). There was no stretch cream left today at Ocean T. Mothercare.xxxx

The Jurlique oils are great, especially Almond Oil. You have to start using it the minute you find out you are pregnant and carry on using it twice a day - morning and night! It's a good habit to pick up anyways, because our skin gets thirsty right, and if you are thinking of having more kids, it only gets worst if you don't look after yourself now?

However, I don't believe it's genetic, I had stretch marks on my tummy and they've now disappeared. You just have to be very diligent and massage the creams/oils into your skin (your skin is made up of 7 separate layers, so imagine trying to get through all that?), don't be sloppy about it! Another great brand I use for my bum is Murad's toning cream. There are two tubes you have to apply, one after another, and I bought it from Elle Spa in Repulse Bay. It's worked wonders and I've only been using it for 2 months!

Trust me...the costs are worth it!

another suggestion is Alqvimia Body Stretch Stopper Oil which is especially for pregnant and breast feeding woman.

I heard some mom will apply olive oil during pregnant, but I found the texture is too thick.

I think 'safe' is very important. When I was pregnant, I used Johnson Baby Oil for moisturizing; later I heard that the oil is not natural, and it's chemical oil. Also, the oil has no nutrients and couldn't improve collegen and ealstic.

I think the most important of Alqvimia oil is 100 % natural. I was very careful and read their website and catalogue before using. It's made up of several natural plants oil such as hazel nut oil, almond oil...etc (can't remember all), while not only moisturizing, but the hazel nut oil is also good to firm to skin & prevent stretch marks.

I checked Crabtree & Ev...sweet almond oil before, and it's not 100 % natural almond oil; I read their product ingredient lable which also includes chemical oil and fragrance.

I know that stretch marks are genetic, but I guess there are things you can do to minimise them.
I suffered from terrible stretch marks at puberty due to rapid growth, so assumed that during pregnancy they would be bad.

A doctor advised that because they start below the skin, creams really don't do a lot, but instead she recommended including flaxseed oil in my diet to keep the skin supple.
I also used Palmers Stretch mark cream, which if nothing else, stopped any itching.

And amazingly I didn't get a single stretch mark!
