Stretch mark cream/ oil

Hi there

I am using the Organic Pharmacy (available at Harvey Nichols) stretch mark oil... it smells wonderful and so far I haven't had any stretch marks.

my aunt is a nurse, she said cream that contains coco butter works best.

I used Palmer coco butter -- didn't like the smell but it was very useful in relieving itchiness. Was it useful in preventing stretch marks? Don't think so... I didn't have any the first 7 or 8 months. But my belly grew very big and the cream didn't stop the stretch marks from forming.

3 pregnancies and I have gained no stretch marks. The second pregnancy I was huge with a big baby. I have them from puberty and my mother has them from pregnancy (my babies where bigger) and puberty.

Have applied cold pressed olive oil (from the supermarket) after every shower from when I found out I was pregnant. The further along I got I would also add some avocado oil into the olive oil. I would also reapply in the evenings. I truly believes it works.

Japanese Camelia Oil from Elemis is really good. i've had 2 friends who used this for their pregnancy and they had no stretch marks. Highly recommended by both my girlfriends. Plus point is that it doesn't have strong sense, since during pregnancy your sensory will be hightened and may not adapt to strong smelling oil/ lotion. The camelia oil is very very light in scent.

I'm totally heart-broken when stretch marks started to appear at 8 months. I've been using Mustela faithfully twice/day the minute I realized I was pregnant, but still my tummy looks like watermelon now.
I'm looking for ways for "damage control", any suggestion?
Will it ever disappear or at least fade after delivery?

I don't know whether it works or not, but I believe StriVectin was thought to be effective for stretch mark damage control - my gf swears that it worked for her and I have stocked up on 1-2 tubes in case . its pricey hough, and I don' have personal experience to go by yet ( will be another 2 months), but was told it works. If you are desperate, may be worth trying.

I started using the Strivectin cream a few weeks ago (you cant use it when you are nursing...) and it definitely looks like it's improving! Apparently the cream is used "like botox" for wrinkles on face too (!)

Lynn,

There is Alqvimia urban spa in Causeway Bay Plaza I. They also offer pregnancy massage with 100 % almond oil, which is very moisturizing and prevent itchy skin.

Anyone out there use "belly butter" before? It's made by a company called nakedpaint and I saw it being sold at linea negra in LKF.

I have tried several products - well, my dermie told me to keep skin moisturised and supple because at the end of the day it is a draw of luck and mostly down to genes.

- Belly Butter by Naked Paint smells delish and not v. greasy but not sure if it works as far as prevention is concerned.

- Elemis Japanese Camelia Oil is a good staple, especially for massages and daily rubbing after shower. As kcinhk said, it doesn't have a strong scent, I prefer it to Clarins.

- I was told Strivectin you cannot use during pregnancy.

Is there any other emergency remedies during pregnancy?

I use the Clarins one too, and love the smell of it! Am 27 weeks pregnant now, and dont have any stretch marks on my belly. However i do have them on my upper thighs, and whther its coincidence or not i dont know, but that was the only area I didnt think to apply the clarins oil on to!!

How many times do you apply the oil? I am 14 weeks and i use Elimis. I love it as it doesn't smell much and not too oily feeling.

I am using the Elemis Japanese Camellia Oil as well, but at HKD880 per bottle it is a little out there. Was just this morning in HealthQuest Pharmacy at 37 Yik Yam St, Happy Valley and spotted a bottle of Camellia Oil there. Didn't catch the price, but once I use up my current bottle of the Elemis stuff I am going to get some of this stuff as I am certain it will be miles cheaper!

You can buy Str Vectrin at Spa Beaute Par Zai in Stanley St, google them for the address. They are an agent for it and it is a really nice beauty salon in there too. Think the address is Queen's Rd Central, but the building entrance is actually on Stanely St.

Yes, I agree with Capital too. I used Nivea (the blue and white colors in tin) and it worked wonderful for me. No strectch mark at all. Cheap and very effective on me and my friend who had two boys.

Am still using Elemis Japanese Camellia Oil - had used up three bottles now and into my 4th one. Still have no stretch mark at week 31.

Supposed to keep using it after delivery too.

You can get Strivectin at Lane Crawford, but please do not use it when you are pregnant or nursing, it has some active ingredients which are not suitable for preggies. I think the main aim of the product is to help with stretchmarks which already exists. So if you are trying to prevent it, might not be the right product for you. I have tried Organic Pharmacy and Lierac, both are good but I tend to use Lierac as it is a non-greasy gel, the oil by Organic Pharmacy tend to rub off on clothes. (or maybe I am using too much...?)

Hi Turtle, seems like you are buying the oil at a high price! I am getting it at a much cheaper price. PM me if you want to get my contact.
