ultra-sound is different than a sonogram.
an ultra sound is like what we have when we're pregnant to see the baby. a had a breast ultrasound several yrs ago when i suddenly had a painful lump in my breast.
(the painful lump turned out to be an "abscess" they call it in western medicine. and i was suppose to take anti-biotics & had them drill a hole & remove the fluid. of course, i chose the more natural way - chinese herbs & it was gone after 2 weeks of medication. can u imagine? if i didn't believe in chinese medicine, i would have had somone drill a hole in my breast!!)
anyway. a sonogram is like an x-ray. where they press (yes, i heard it hurts like mad) your breast between 2 x-ray plates & take an x-ray of it. usually, it is recommend annually for women over 60. not recommended for those under, because what turns up as a dark spot on the x-ray could just be a normal cyst, which is extremely common in women below 60) i even read somewhere that 80% of breast autopsy because of sonogram turned out to be benign. in fact recent studies suggest that breast sonogram plays no significant part in preventing breast cancer. so a lot of breast specialist don't recommend it.
sorry about the long story, i just wanted to share my knowledge. i did a lot of research when i had that "abscess" thingy.
