shape of your bump reveals gender of baby?

Is the Chinese 'belly shape tells gender' accurate for you?

I know I'm having a boy, and I'm sticking straight out, instead of at the sides.
I also heard that if you're having a boy, you look more beautiful during your pregnancy, nice nails, shiny hair, etc. If you're having a girl, the opposite, because supposedly your baby girl is taking all your beauty from you:)

I wish that I had a pretty pregnancy with my son but I was pretty yucky (especially in the end--oh man!) :0) But I have heard that old wives' tale too!

After 3 months of morning sickness, I felt better pregnant than not pregnant. My hair was shiny, didn't need washing as much as it felt healthier, my nails grew fast and strong, my skin looked great (I normally have poor skin and often got acne), all in all, I felt great. I had a beautiful little girl though, I say that she was kind enough to share her beauty with me. My belly was quite round as opposed to pointy, and would say that you could tell I was pregnant from the back.

Am pregnant again but feel totally different now as I did at the same stage with my first, so am keen to find out what I will be having this time.

Yah AussieMum, I feel great being pregnant too (first baby). I have been very fortunate to not have had any morning sickness but still have had the nausia feeling, however my hair and nails, skin is all like it was when I was in high school (healthy looking and no pimples).
I was just noticing yesterday that my baby bump seemed pointy. I'm 20 weeks pregnant and haven't really been told by definitively by people if they think we're having a boy or girl, because the bump has only now just started to grow (had to buy maternity pants). I still have a waist, but I feel so much bigger than I what I actually am....not use to carrying extra weight. We will find out on 22nd Dec. (nice Christmas present) regarding the sex and overall health of our baby.

My friend who is Japanese has a very pointy belly (extremely pointy), and is meant to be having a boy, she is due on 22nd Dec.....so i'll keep you posted as to if she has a boy or girl.

In Australia i've heard people say if you put on lots of weight and lose your waist it's a girl, if you can't tell your pregnant from behind it's a boy....but with all differing body types all over the world, hard to believe this 'wives tale' all the time....but having said that, most of the women I know back in Aust. have usually proven this statement true????

We had so many people, chinese and western tell us that bump was a boy that we were thoroughly convinced.

Random people in the street would smile and say he's a boy, perhaps a ratio of 20:1 said it was a boy...so imagine our surprise when bump popped out a girl!

Stomach was pointy, still had waistline and couldnt tell from behind I was pregnant.

We had expressly asked not be told during scans but really had ourselves convinced of a boy anyway.

She doesn't seem to mind a few boys clothes ha ha...

The jealousy of mothers for their daughters...so sad!

I'm opposite! At 5 1/2 months, I am about as rounded as can be (like you can't tell if I'm sitting) and the doctor assures me every time that it's a boy!

My friend is 7 month and I am 6 1/2 month. Both my friend are I are the opposite as the survey suggested.

Her tummy is very pointed and she is having a girl. My belly is very round and I am having a son.

no one can tell i am pregant when looking at my back and everyone said i should be carrying a boy

my gynae assured me that i am carrying a girl and my baby girl was borne 12 days ago

During my first pregnancy my belly was round and I gained TONS and TONS of weight. They were commenting that it's going to be a girl and indeed it turned out to be a girl. This time around my body's still the same round and gained TONS of weight and was being told that I'm having another girl. But 6 scans so far told us we're having a boy (100%). My best friend was the opposite she carried an obvious pointed belly and skinny arms legs etc. She was told that she'd be having boys both times. Her first baby was also indeed a boy but the second one was a girl born this feb 4. So I guess the shape depends on the body type of the mother?! But the myth proves true for some people.

why so many guess? I can't wait to know as this is my 1st baby! I did a blood test when I was pregnant for 8 weeks to know the gender of my baby! Over 99.5% accuracy rate! Many people still don't know this test is availiable! Check out with your doctor!

Oh wow, never heard of that really. I've got many friend who have babies, but we all had to wait for 4 months to know! Does all doctors do these kind of tests? I've got a boy as well.....he's now 7 months old.

Actually this is the folk wisdom in the US too, and it turned out to be accurate for me and for most of the ladies in my pregnancy classes. I looked like I was carrying a basketball under my shirt, but you couldn't tell I was pregnant from behind! ANd yes, it was a boy ...

For my last pregnancy my belly was really pointed and nobody could tell I was pregnant from behind, and I was carrying a boy. I'm pregnant with 2nd one and am in week 27. People still can't tell I'm pregnant from behind, but my belly is obviously rounder. And I'm carrying a girl.
My skin and body shape is definitely better with this pregnancy, so I think I'm lucky the jealousy between mothers and daughters doesn't seem to apply to me ;)

I had a boy first time around and now pregnant with a girl. I have definitely put on more weight across my bum this time. Feeling enormous!!

with me everyone said I was carrying a boy the first time because you couldn't tell from the back side and it didn't look like a "watermelon" as they say...but it was a girl...so it's hard to say! :)

The first time I was carrying a girl my belly was more round and weight was distributed all across. With a boy now my belly is pointed.

WELL. EVERYONE said I was carrying a girl because of the shape of my belly. My HK doctor told me 4 times through the ultrasounds that I was carrying a girl. Then I went to Aus (to have the baby) and the doctor there told me I was carrying a girl too. The whole time I was convinced I was having a boy. I just had this feeling. Then I had the 3D ultrasound and she said I was definitely having a boy! Gave me picture proof! I was soooo not surprised because I really had known all along! The day before my 3D ultrasound my mum had said 'come on Lisa, it's a girl. Let's go buy pink stuff'. And I gave in because so many ultrasounds had said girl. Luckily we kept the receipts so I could get blue stuff instead hehe.
ANYWAY to answer the question, they were ALL wrong and I was RIGHT. :)
