Does anyone know where I can take my baby to get photo for Canadian passport and Citizen card in Hong Kong?

Please help. Tks.

Cari

Why don't you try taking them yourself? I did it for D. Just cover his carseat or bouncer with a white blanket and take a few closeups. When you get them developed select the best one and ask the photostore to shrink it to passport size.

Here are the guidelines from the Canadian consulates

There is a small photoshop in Happy Valley, right next to the wet market, that takes Cdn passport and citizenship photos. There is also a photo shop across the street from Times Square in CWB that called 50M 28956586.

Tks for your info and website.

They require a photographer's stamp at the back of the photo. I have checked with several photographers and they do not have this. Any ideas?

If that's the case, best to ask the Candian Consulate. They might just have a list of photographers that they recommend.

Thank you very much for all your information. I will try to take photo asap for my baby so we can travel together.

No stamp needed

Hi Cari,

You don't actually need a photographers stamp on the back of the photos, what you do need is the name of the shop and address. As long as you have that information and your guarantor's signature you should be fine.

I just had my passport renewed before we moved out here and that was good enough for mine.

Hope that helps.

There's a small photofinishing shop in the IFC. I believe it is near the main escalators. Sorry but I don't remeber the name.

They were very nice and took many shots of my baby to let me pick the best one. They know the size requirements for Canadian Passports, so there was no hassle.

Tks Twinkle. Where is IFC? I took my baby to the one in Happy Valley today but it will take 5 days to get the pic.

IFC is right next to Exchange Square, where the Canadian Consulate is located.

The photoshop twinkle mentioned is really great, I think the place is called Photo 2000, they also took a few photos of my baby and let me pick the best one, and the photos are ready in an hour.

The Canadian Consulate is fussy. Make sure your pictures have a STAMPED address of the photo shop, and the date taken. The shop in IFC is great. You need a different size of pictures for the Certificate of Citizenship. Do apply at the same time. You will only get it months later. After you've got the CC, then you can ask your relatives in Canada to apply for the SIN. Then you're all set. Good luck.

Do I need to bring my baby with me to the Canadian Consulate? Or I just mail everything to there?

Cari

I'm not sure on this one. When we called, they said the baby did not need to go there. But once I was up at the counter, they asked me where the baby was. My baby was then sleeping in the stroller in the waitin area, and I practically had to wheel him up to show them his face. Mind you, he was 3 weeks old, sleeping on his side with half his face covered, they wouldn't be able ot tell whether it was him anyway, but that seemed to have pleased them enough. I would say, to play safe, take your baby.
