Hi
Our 23 month old daughter has recently been diagnosed with a heart murmur and tests revealed she has PDA which is moderate sized and will require some intervention. Prior to this diagnosis, she has been a happy and very healthy little girl. The murmur was found on a routine examination for a cold/cough.
The pediatrician that performed the echocardiogram said he would do the procedure (likely to put a coil in heart) and that I wouldnt need another specialist? This doesnt sound right to me. Further investigations back home (Australia) and overseas (London) reveal that pediatric cardiologists do this procedure. Ideally I would like to go home and have it done, but its tricky due to the fact we are not residents and dont pay a medicare tax as well as long wait lists.
Has anyone had experience here with this condition or Dr Maurice Leung (who was receommended from someone else). I hear Dr Leung is a pediatric cardiologist.
Thanks, very stressed out.
