Nov/Dec 06 Mums to meet

Welcome Megfromsyd and Gum!

Yes, we had a nice lunch get together this week and I'm up for trying Cru restaurant on the 9th.

I think shopping in Stanley is just for clothing right? and Kowloon would be the place for baby equipment etc. But I'm getting heavier by the day and walking/standing for more than an hour is a task for me these days.

Slamdunk, I was thinking of gettting the maternity belt. Which shop did you find it in and what was the brand name?

Somebodyfamous, glad you found the link! Can you email me your link as well?

Look forward to the 9th.

Hi All

Great - I will book Cru for 8 of us to start with and let me know if you can or can't make it and I will amend from there (private message or on the board is find). I'm counting somebodyfamous, SFgal and megfromsyd as definates so don't worry about replying unless something changes.

see you on the 9th

Does Cru have a toilet on the ground floor?

By 9 August, I'll be 25 weeks with twins and I"m finding stairs a struggle already this week....

Good point - the toilets are upstairs and you kind of have to walk up a slope and a few stairs to get to the restaurant. It is further along to the right if you are facing jaspers - it is a bit of the struggle in the heat even being not too big so perhaps not a great idea - any other suggestions. I guess soho in general means a few steps unless you get a taxi right out the front?

Taxis are my friend

Perhaps one of the Italian restaurants on Elgin St? Not Fat Angelos - although big portions, I don't think it's all that tasty! (no offense to FA fans!)

I too am struggling with stairs and slopes these days and have to avoid them if I can. Most likely I'll park on Queen's Road, and going up to SOHO is fine by escalator but coming back down is quite a walk.

I am good with meeting at IFC or Pacific Place if that is easier for everyone as well. There's Grappa's, Bistro (near Great Food Hall) or Dan Ryan's at Pacific Place if you guys are up for trying any of those.

Should we try Grappa's then at Pacific Place as this seems to be a good location. i really liked thai basil so we could go there again maybe not this time but sometime soon. I don't know many places in IFC?

Meet on Aug 9th

Great. I just made reservations so let's meet:

Date: Wednesday, Aug 9 at 12:30pm
Venue: Grappa's at Pacific Place

Let's us know by August 4 if you can or cannot make it so we can make alternative plans.

I can make it - see you then - never been to grappas but always looks good! thank goodness it is a bit cooler this week!

Count me In!

Hello Ladies,

sorry I missed the last luncheon. We ended up dealing with moving in and landlords, etc. Plan on me being there on the 9th. Sounds good.

Rach, I can also make shopping next week if that is better for you? or anybpdy else. I don't mind Stanley or Kowloon, but maybe sooner is better for anyone who is having more troubles getting around, and early in the day rather than in the heat of the day?

Has anyone had a pregnancy massage yet? I went to Frederique Spa, which was very good, but am wondering if anyone else had a different, less expensive suggestion... I have a painful knot in my shoulder and am in the market for another kneading.

I look forward to seeing all of you! and meeting the newcomers. Welcome!

Rub the bellies for me!

Annie

Hi Annie

Yes shopping next week is fine for me - I meant to get back to you but i guess we can discuss on the 9th. I would like to go to stanley as I have been to kowloon recently and more larger items - but if it is hot maybe kowloon is better. anyway we can see who else is keen and who wants to go where and decide next week.

look forward to the 9th

Hello Rani,

Thanks for listing our EDD's

My due date is somewhere between Nov. 4 (36 weeks) - Nov. 18th (38 weeks)... because of having identical twins... according to what the Dr.s told me. Only time will tell. so, listing the 4th or the 18th is fine with me if it helps to give the other mothers an idea of how far along each one of us are.

Rach,

the 9th is fine by me. And I am fine with trying Stanley. If it looks like it will be too hot, then we can always switch to Kowloon.

Any other takers for shopping? We can go as slow or fast as each belly requires. I have NO problem with stopping for a nice cool drink every 5 minutes if necessary. :)

Annie

Hi Everyone
Sorry been quiet, have been a bit slack on checking in. Please count me in for lunch next Weds.

Rani - my due date is Nov 10

SF Girl - I've PM'd you.

Cheers

I counted 6 altogether for lunch next Wednesday. If anyone else can join, that would be great, just let me know so I can add to the reservation. See you guys next week!

Lunch was great today. Thanks ladies!

Looks like we're aiming for another lunch in two weeks time:
Wednesday 23 August @ ZEN, Pacific Place.

Saw my doc this afternoon and he said I should get to 35 or 36 weeks before delivery - that's only 10 or 11 weeks away! YIKES!!! So my due date of Nov 20 is not really correct anymore..... Twin girls whether we're ready or not!!

Yes, the food was good....

Somebodyfamous, what did the dr meant by saying that your delivery is near 35/36 weeks? Is that saying it's good? What criteria did he use to determine the 35/36 week delivery time estimate?

Based on readings from books, I too am preparing a due date of end of October (my 40 week due date is Nov 18) so I was thinking of asking my dr at the next appt if he can give an indication what my delivery due date would be but I dont know what he checks to come up with that due date.

I was a bit confused by him myself - constantly going into shock i am - I did say I wanted to hang on until 38 weeks and he seemed to think I would be too big and too uncomfortable. However I don't care how big or uncomfortable I get, as long as the girls are born without needing Intensive Care... I see him again the day before our next lunch and I'll ask again.

Don't worry yourself about what my doc said - maybe he had a slip of the tongue!

My initial due date was Nov 20 (same as singleton) and my doc said to use that as a guideline but bear in mind twins are usually born earlier...
