SHERMEN

Hi all, how can I train my girl talk to strangers ?She failed most of the interviews because she didn't talk to the teachers. But at home she talks a lot.

Practice. :)

When you go out (shopping, to the playground, etc.) do you greet people and talk w/ them? A lot of kids' behavior is "monkey see, monkey do".

Also, consider (if you don't already) getting together at play-groups (like PPA) or even w/ just some other mums and get her used to seeing you talk w/ other people (including other kids) and she can get used to talking to other adults.

My kids are/were quite social and I think that part of it was because from the time they were very young I would have them say "hello" to people who worked in the wet-market, to people we passed in the lift, etc.

Act like "there's no strangers, just friends you haven't met yet".

Some kids are just naturally a bit retiring, so all the more reason to practice social skills.

Good luck!

Try to bring your daughter to some group playing class and meet more strangers. You can also bring her to playground to meet a lot of different kids. Let her learn how to play and talk with others. You can also help to start conversation for her.

When I was young, I was really shy and I failed all the kindergarten interviews as well. Don't worry.

Some kindergartens will only care about the background of the parents (e.g. occupation, family income, education...etc). Don't worry.
