Mother In Need!

i've just returned from a stay at QMH where i met a lovely woman that could really use our help. She's a new single mother of twins (one boy, one girl). She just delivered by c-section last wednesday and she's getting ready to head home on Sunday.

She is receiving no support from her family who have basically decided that she no longer exsists. The father of the children doesn't want to have anything to do with them and is offering NO support, financial or otherwise.

If you have a bassinette or a double pram that you are willing to part with, it would be greatly appreciated. My friend just doesn't have the resources or the space for much right now, so bassinettes/moses baskets would be perfect.

Also, if you are willing to donate nappies or wet wipes or anything like that, I'll start a collection for her. Due to her lack of space, I'll be storing things at my house(DB) and taking them to her(Sheung Wan) as needed.

She has approached her church but all they offered was a lecture. The gov't is only providing $1300/month. So anything and everything would be greatly appreciated.
Please respond here or send me an email if you are interested in helping.

Thank you so much!

PS> Rani, I hope that you don't mind my posting this here. This forum is usually full of very helpful people. Thanks!

Cara,

Of course I don't mind. We're allways happy to help people in need. Let me know if there's something I can do.

Hi cara

Thainks for being prepared to do something when you see someone in need. The world needs more people like you.

I have sent you a PM

Thanks Everyone! I really appreciate all of the offers we've received so far. I'm hoping that she'll come to stay with us, at least until the incision has a chance to heal properly and she can walk unaided.

This woman is completely alone. No family support whatsoever. And a jerk of a "boyfriend" that has decided he has better things to do than provide for his children. She is planning on filing at court for some kind of maintenance, but it could take up to a year to get legal aid sorted out and get the court papers filed.

I am thinking of starting up a charity for women like my friend and women that REALLY need help.
However, I have no idea how to go about it...anyone know where i should start?
Thanks!

I'm appalled at the church's response :-(

Not all Christians are like that!

Would love to help, I will be in touch with Fee about it.

Have send you a PM. YOu are a total STAR for helping someone in their hour of need. We all wish we knew more people like you.

thanks guys! like my last pregnancy, there are some complications...but so far, so good. i'm hoping that's the last visit for a while... we'll see how it goes... last time round i was hospitalised 4 or 5 times... so far this time, i've been in twice...

i really appreciate how supportive everyone has been. and i'm sure my friend is too... i've told her some of the things that have been donated so far and she is amazed at the generosity of strangers, when those "closest" to her want nothing to do with her!

Hi Everyone!

Southside Moms, you can drop off donations at the Geobaby office. We're in Unit 709 Cyberport 1, 100 Cyberport Rd. Give us a call at 2989 9147 before popping by.

Thanks!

Carang,

Thanks for being there for someone in need.

Do you have a list of what has already been donated... We have some newborn-6 month outfits, nooks, and a couple other items we could donate. I too am having twins and can't even imagine having to go through that without support.

My thoughts are with her.

thanks engee. i appreciate your offer of a walker, however, the place that she is currently living doesn't have space. it is less than 100sq ft!

if she is able to relocate to a larger place, i'll let you know.
your generosity is greatly appreciated.
thanks,
cara

Thank you everyone that has donated stuff for my firend. It is all greatly appreciated and is being put to good use.

However, due to your fantastic generosity, we have run out of room to store things.

If you are still interested in making a donation, please PM me and I can provide you details of other ways to donate.

Thank you again geobaby members!
