Lying on Belly at 14 weeks

I have adhering to the '3rd world rule of thumb' when it comes to daily physical activities, but I do wonder how safe it is to be lying on your belly in bed? I am at my 14th week and am just starting to develop a bump.

I do not do it on purpose but sometimes find myself in this position in the morning and it isn't uncomfortable. The pre-natal yoga instructors always tell us to avoid lying on the belly. Any advise?

pretty soon it will be VERY uncomfortable. i always lay on my tummy as long as i could. now, it's impossible...i miss it!

I've never heard of '3rd world rule of thumb' so I'm not sure what you're referring to. If you jsut wake up and find yourself in that position, don't worry about it. Just try not to do it on purpose. :) I agree, that soon it will be very uncomfortable. I am 22 weeks and was just laying on my tummy for a minute, and I could feel the baby kicking me in protest. lol.

Sorry for the confusion, that rule of thumb is just a phrase to say that women in 3rd world countries harvest paddy, carry loads etc when they are pregnant and still have healthy normal babies, hahaha!!

Thanks for the feedback, carang and Katie. I guess the little one will have a good way of telling you when it's not happy with the position!
