Maya's birthday is next week and I wanted to print a tshirt for her to wear that says "birthday girl" or something like that. Does anyone know a place that does that?

Thanks!

There is a shop in Times Square that takes your photo and applies it to anything from coffee mugs to mouse pads. Don't know about straight lettering though.

THere is a guy in Wanchai market that prints tshirts. Sorry I don't have a name of the place. Its the lane right across from Hopewell Centre. If you do only 1 shirt I think he'll charges around $80-100.

May be chepear to buy the transfer paper from a computer store and DIY.

Hi!
I had my son's 1st year birthday shirt
made at Stanley. It only took an hour
for the shop to make it and it was
$80HK. (These are the same people
who make chinese stamps).
Good luck!

Thanks for the ideas! Rani, I was wondering, is it the Lane that has all of the wedding invitation stores on it? I was walking around there today, but I wasn't sure if it was right. What kind of store is it?

Armstroe- I was at Times Square today and I was looking for the store you mentioned, but didn't find it. Any idea what it's called or where exactly it's located or what it looks like?

hkmommy- I may be going up to Stanley tomorrow if I can't find either of the other shops. Do all of the places who make the Chinese stamps do it or was it just one? How will I know which one? Do they advertise for it?

Also, any clue where I can find a plain pink t-shirt? I went all over Causeway Bay today looking and couldn't find a single one w/out some sort of design!

Thanks!

t shirt in stanley

Hi! I wish you the best with your birthday celebrations

There are quite a number of shops who do the t-shirts.
They hang the shirts up right in front of the shops---I
think mostly tourists like to get a t-shirt/chop with their name
done in English and Chinese.

Tips for having a birthday t shirt made in Stanley:

1. I have used one of the shops twice and been very pleased
with their work. Don't have an address, but they are located
very close to the Watsons. They are the very first shop that
does t-shirts on the left hand side of the street. The shop
sells tourist knick knacks, but has a t-shirt desk at the front
left hand side of the shop (if you're facing the shop). Sorry
I can't be of more help with directions!!

2. I drew out exactly what I wanted on the t-shirt on a piece
of paper and showed it to them. I found it really helped when
I also mentioned things like: color of letters, size of letters.
(If I recall correctly, they have the following colors: red,
black, blue, green, yellow, orange, purple). The man hand
paints the letters/designs right onto the t-shirt. For my
son's shirt we had the following done: "Happy Birthday"
done in an arc on the chest, his name done in a straight
line across the belly, and the number 1 done with an animal
done in the middle.

3. Lastly, if you want, go ahead and mention to the man that
you were sent by the lady who did a birthday shirt and
four "grandma and grandpa shirts." I told them that the
birthday shirt was going to be in a magazine and they worked
extra hard to make sure it was exactly what I wanted. I was
really pleased with their work so I went back and did the 4
additional shirts.

Have a terrific celebration!

I know exactly the shop you're talking about. thank you! I was wondering, did you bring your own shirt for him to paint on or can you buy the shirt there? Do they have sizes for a 1yr old?

Also, since it's paint on the shirt, have you had any problems with the paint coming off in the wash or anything?

thanks!

80HKD includes the t shirt

Glad my description of the shop made sense!
Actually, 80HKD is the price for a white t-shirt
and the labor/artwork. They have all sizes--
from small to really big. (don't know the smallest
size, but my son was several sizes up from the
smallest and he was approx 23lbs on his first
birthday). The store claims that the shirts/paint
are washable without fading. I must admit that
we had our son wear the t-shirt once and it's
just laying around because I haven't gotten
around to testing a small section out prior to
sticking it in the wash.

Sorry I missed this msg.

The lane I was referring to is across from Hopewell Centre. You'll see a open parking lot, its on the right of it - same lane as Circle K and HK Jockey Club. The market starts opposite Circle K. The t-shirt guy is a few stalls down on your left.
