Honestly, I don't think there is any way to prevent them. Some people are lucky and don't get them, and some people aren't so lucky and do. It has to do with how good of shape your body is in and the elasticity of the skin. So if you want to avoid them, honestly I would say drink tons of water, get fit and toned, and that's about it. Lotion isn't going to do a thing.
But that's my opinion. I have no medical basis to back it up.
