HK has helpers, UK has....?

we are planning to move to UK in the next few years and i was wondering:

1. who will look after bub when we are at work?
2. what is the normal school routine for bub? for eg, school opening and closing times.
3. what age do they start school?

How old is your bub? What month was he/she born in?

UK has day care which has waiting lists and which you have to pay for. nurserys usually start at the age of 3 years and then school after that.
 
daycare/cr?che are the norm.
School starts between 8-9am & finishes 2-3:30pm(depending).

P1 starts at age 5 (I think).
 
If money is not an issue then you could have an "au pair" - like a helper, but they cost more in the UK than HK. Otherwise people who work take their children to nursery/day care. You will have to google for nurserys near the area you are living. They start preschool at about 2.5 yrs of age. Depending on where you are living you should start thinking about this sooner rather than later as some areas have long wait lists for schools. How old is bub and where will you live?

bub was born in june last year so he is just over 10 months now. i would love to look after him myself but we got to pay the bills!! daycare centre sounds good to me since i will be working a 9 to 5 job.

i used to live in london (chiswick, to be precise) and planning to mortgage when i get there so might have to stay a bit out of london this time like aldershot, farnborough, kent....?

i was thinking to put him into a local pre-school from next year so he can pick up canto/mando but if we move by the time he goes to P1 then his english might not be upto scratch....? *aargh*

do the working parents normally put their bubs in daycare centres in england then?
 
First make sure where ever you live if you are commuting to London it is on a good train link. I come from Surrey and regularly commuted from Woking to London. I used a childminder to look after my children so I had to ensure one was based on my route to the Station and had to find one that was prepared to work beyond 6pm. The Local Council in the area can give you a list of qualified childminders. I merely interviewed a few of them and checked out their facilities and viewed them one day interacting with the other children.
