Due Oct-Dec 08??

Does Zara have maternity? Or do they just have stuff that is larger around the stomach??

When I first found out I was pregnant, I was wanting to lose a couple of kg - not more than 5... and in my first trimester, I lost about 2-3kg - and I wasn't even sick! I wasn't particularly interested in food though...

I notice now that I'm going into my 2nd trimester that I'm a LOT more hungry all the time though, so I'm expecting to see my weight start going up soon probably ;)

Hi All,
Zara does have a small selection of maternity clothes - maybe one rack in each shop I've been to. The sizing I've seen is M and L only (no Smalls).
Ninahh, I know what you're going through. Every time I go for a doctor's appt, I cringe when they put me on the scale! The only real symptom I've had in the first few months (other than exhaustion) has been hunger - I always want to eat and I've even had to carry around snacks in my bag! I've just passed the 12 week mark so I'm hoping that my appetite will decrease. Not looking to lose weight, just not gain quite as quickly!

but maternity wear at zara is really nice. just baught a great pair of jeans and a dress for a wedding i have to go to in june. M and L is fine for me (i am not an S :( ) just have a look.
i am on a healthy trip now, no more snacking in between, not so easy but really have to take care of my weight, as you said, nino, no need to loose weight, but not gaining that quickly :)

I love the maternity clothes at Zara! I definitely want that great denim skirt, but I am gonna wait and see if I put weight on everywhere or just get a big belly.
I lost 4 kilos during the first trimester because I was sick and couldn't eat much.
I am not really more hungry now. I've been so used to eating small portions regularly that I can't eat normal meals anyway.
I eat breakfast at 6, a snack around 9.30, small lunch at 12, snack at 3 and then again at 5.30-6pm and then dinner at 8-8.30pm. The morning snack is sometimes a muffin or rice crackers (because I still need dry stuff for the sickness) but the afternoon snacks are only fruits and yoghurt. Dinner is only vegetables, I eat potatoes or rice at lunch. It seems to work quite well for me.
Therefore, I don't look pregnant at all, which is quite frustrating! I get up in the morning wih a flat tummy, this morning I even saw my abs!
I can't wait for it to show....

I know you have to be careful putting on too much weight during pregnancy. My sister put on a lot of weight in her pregnancy and the baby got too big to turn so she had no option but to have a c-section.

I've banned all snack foods from the house and have filled our fridge with fruit, yogurt and vevgetables. If you get the munchies at least this way you only have the option of something healthy.

I keep meaning to look into something like pre-natal yoga, has anyone tried it yet?

I'm trying to "snack healthy" too... but I've found I'm not as interested in chocolate as I usually am!! I have SOOOOOO much chocolate in the house - but at this rate, it'll still be all there when the baby is born!! Instead, I've been snacking on bananas, yogurt, nuts, seeds (like pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds etc...) - I WANT to eat all my chocolate coz it's just sitting there - but I'm just not that into it these days!!

Oh - about Zara again, is the maternity with the children's clothes? Or just with the women's clothes?? I generally go to Zara at IFC... and I've NEVER seen maternity - but I bet I'm just looking in the wrong place!!

It's a really tiny section, just a rail. Ask the staff, they'll show you where it is!

My weight gain is quite strange, I gained slowly at the beginning and then at between 11-15weeks, I didn't gain any at all, then all of a sudden, it's gone up almost a kilo this past week! (maybe I just gave myself the 'green light' after seeing the same number for so long! :P ) Have been plotting it religiously against a chart that I'd downloaded, still on the ideal line! Hope it stays that way!

About Zara, it's a tiny section among the women's clothes, with a small sign saying "Zara mum, maternity). You really have to look for it to find it, it is not obvious at all. (that's how I discovered it, I was just looking at a skirt and realised later it has a maternity belt inside!) I've checked only 2 Zara's, the one in Times Square had much more than the one in Pacific place.

Indeed, it's weird how we are not interested in certain food anymore. I used to love pizza, mc donald's, ice cream, and I could down a bag of M&M's in one go, and now I am just so into fruit, I always feel like eating something fresh, so fruit is just sooo good!
If I had to go on a diet just to lose wieght, I am sure I would not be so successful!

Hey, we made our second baby purchase yesterday! After little pj's we fell in love with in Japan, we bought a baby-carrier at protrek, great quality and really cute!

Hi, am back from the UK. We arrived back in HK on Saturday night during the typhoon 3 signal - not a pleasant experience landing during that!! Glad you all had a good lunch on the 14th. When's the next one planned for as would love to meet you all? It seems everyone is progressing well in their pregnancies. I had another doctors appointment today where I heard the heartbeat - what a lovely sound! I have put on 2 kilos since my last weigh in 4 weeks ago....yikes!!! Have my anomaly scan in three weeks time.

Ruchee - My nausea stoppped at about 10 weeks and I was worried that something had happened to the baby. I managed to get a scan the next day and all was fine. My nausea also started up again the following day too! Is there any way you can have a scan to put your mind at rest? They do say every pregnancy is different and that morning sickness varies from pg to pg. Thinking of you and sending you lots of positive vibes.

xx

Room for one more?

Hi
This is unrelated to the above thread, but wasn't sure how to get started on this site - so just took the plunge.

I am due on 25th October with my first baby. Do you meet regularly? Can anyone join in?

Have looked through some of the threads and its so good to know that others have the same symptons, I managed to avoid morning sickness but the cramps and indigestion weren't too pleasant. Had my 12wk scan (am now past 13wks) and all was well - phew
Would be good to meet others at the same stage of pregnancy. I live in North Point.

Hey G - I just sent you a PM

I'm living in North Point too - also pregnant with my first baby, due Oct 28! Seems like we have a lot in common!!

I'm 13 weeks today - seems crazy that now I'm in my 2nd trimester... time flies... I have a scan tomorrow - my first one since 9 1/2 weeks... I'm sure the baby has grown LOTS since then!! I'm looking forward to seeing "her" (that's my intuition, but I could be wrong!!)

OH - and we bought the cot too - I know it's SO early to do that, but it's 20% off and I'm a bit tight with money ;) My husband wants to get bunks for the spare room too so that we have enough beds to accommodate his mum, my parents and my sister - if they all decide to visit all at once. I don't want my house to look like a dormitory so I'm reluctant! I want the baby's room to be THE BABY'S room - not EVERYONE'S room... AND I don't want both our families to come at the same time either!! But anyways, we'll figure it out ;) lol

My MIL goes home today - we were with a friend and they were saying "So are you going to have your MIL over when the baby is born??" and I said "I don't know, we haven't figured it out yet" lol - and MIL gave me one of those "looks" - I probably offended her... but anyways...

Oh dear the MIL visit!

I would think having everyone descending on you after you first give birth would be a nightmare! Afterall you have to get used to life with new bub, I'm sure everyone would be well meaning but so many people around might get a bit much.
Best advice I heard was for the first few weeks allow guests to come for 30 minutes at a time and they have to bring you a prepared meal!

We've managed to put off anyone until xmas (afterall that's only a few more weeks for them to wait)

I'm planning to go to Australia for Christmas - and my MIL has already invited her WHOOOLLLEEE family from Singapore/Malaysia to go and stay with her so they can all meet our then 2 month old!! That's grandma and 4 sets of aunties and uncles, and a few cousins too!!!

I'm already MIL ODing - she was here 6 weeks ago, again now... she wants to come for who knows how long in October/Nov to make sure I eat all the right foods and don't wash my hair ;) ;)

The Christmas thing is just... ugh - it'll probably put pressure on us to spend more time with her and less time with my family... and I figure, if she wants to come here more than my family can afford to, then when I go to Australia, it's fair if I spend more time with my fam and less with her right? ;) ;)

I think now is the time to be miss bossy boots and make sure you get to see your family (I know you miss them). If you let the MIL call the shots now you'll have the rest of your life (well maybe hers) to put up with it.
It's lovely that her family is excited to see the baby but you have to enjoy your time away as well. We can give you pep talks nearer the time!!

P.S we can also sneak you out for shampoo when she's here for the baby...

oh my, my mil is coming is three weeks. i've already told her that i don't want her here for the birth, but i think she kind of understood. lets see...
bubbles- can't follow the link for the dinner, but just posted a message on the lunch link, saying if it would be possible to have a dinner or meet on the weekend, because i work too far away :)
so i am happy to have dinner or meet on the weekend
