Due Oct-Dec 08??

went baby shopping yesterday!!! we've spend tons of money, but are ready for the little one to come out.
bought a stroller from chico. it can be flat for newborns and we can also put a chico car seat on it. quite expensive, but hopefully worth the prize.
no chance to get a maxi cosi in hong kong. every shop just has the carseat but not the stroller. anyway, the systen is the same and chico is a good brand too.

I just bought the Mclaren MX3 - it was secodn hand and only 500 HKD brand new and you can use it from birth but it seems huge - its 3 wheels but it feels so hard to move around!! Any advice??

Husband and I are shopping this weekend for other bits. Is anyone else feelign a bit scared? It seems so close now?

We went shopping yesterday too! How scary!!! It all seems so real now! Lots of pregnant women around! We went to Mothercare, B2B and Eugene. Checked out all the prices and stuff but didn't have time to go back to B2B - they close so early! (I think the talk of me going shopping with you guys made hubby feel a bit threatened! :P)

Nina, which model did you buy? We will be getting the Trio 4 me...

Wow, sounds like you guys are having lots of fun shopping! I've been trying to wait for my 20 week scan (next week) to start, but I'm getting impatient!

On another note, my bump is definitely 'popping' and my most exciting purchase this weekend was some maternity jeans from Zara! They seem to only have a few different styles of maternity pants, but they are a lifesaver as somehow overnight none of my clothes fit!

Kmalia - Congrats on popping out ;-)

Kharel - Not really sure what to suggest - do you have a baby you could borrow to put in the buggy whilst you practice pusing it around? ;-) The Maclaren MX3's are very light compared to a lot of three wheelers and you def got it for a bargain.

Well I've ordered a Maclaren XT from Mothercare online in the UK as they have a sale on and it works out loads cheaper than in HK - I'll bring it back with me in August. For any of you Brits out there who have visitors coming over with empty suitcases, Mothercare online in the UK has a sale on at the mo and if you put the code EM8 into the discount box when you're at the checkout, you get an extra 20% off!

Just out of interest, which steriliser are you ladies buying?

You guys are all so much more organised than me - I've gotta get my act together!!

I'm sick today :( I've been sneezing and coughing and my glands are so swollen, it hurts to swallow!! I don't know what I can take when I'm pregnant - I know I could research it but I might just go see my GP tomorrow and get something off her...

nicolejoy - i am actually getting over the exact same thing! swolen glands, lots of sneezing, not fun.

I went to my homeopathic doctor which set me up with some cold and flu drops, drank LOTS of water and hot tea and used some saline nasal drops - you can make them at home by dissolving 1/4 teaspoon salt in 8ounces of water. Place a few drops in each nostril, wait 5 to 10 minutes, and then gently blow your nose. It all seemed to work because I'm feeling better after three days of yuckiness.

good luck and feel better!

I think I caught it off one of the kids I taught on Saturday. She was sick - but her mother brought her with a face mask that kept falling off. So the girl kept coming up to me for me to put it back on her!! I don't think that the face mask did much in the way of stopping to germs from spreading!!

Baby 20 week scan

The baby wasn't so shy during this scan - it's a girl!!!!!

We're super elated although my hubby seems more scared then anything (or maybe just pre-occupied).

And I've finally gained some weight!! I'm up 5 pounds!!!! Bigger and better things are around the corner I'm sure (ie. junk in the trunk).

Cheers - b

22 weeks today and I'm still the same weight that I was when I found out I was pregnant. I had a couple of kg I wanted to lose though...

Trying to plan the mother/MIL's trip over here... we're gonna put them in a hotel because a) that way we can "settle in" with baby, and b) there's not any way we could comfortably put them all up here - and I think they'd be more "hindrance" than "help" if they were staying here ;)

I think we're gonna schedule their trip for around 2 weeks after the due date - the doctor at Tsan Yuk said that they induce at 41 weeks, so the baby should be born by then!!

baby's and such

Thanks Nina!! I'm so looking forward to buying all those cute dresses!! Have you had any luck with the midwife situation? (I sent u a PM).

Kmalia - congrats on popping!!

I bought my first mat bra's today exciting business :)

Bobbie I'm so exciting you're having a girl as well!! I have to say shopping for girls is so cute!

Nicole - whats the secret to your weight!! I've got an appointment tomorrow, first time I'll be weighed since my 12 week scan....oh dear!

My MIL has just booked her flights after baby is born. She's staying in a hotel too, definately the best idea in the early days.

I lost about 3 or 4 kg at the beginning - I wasn't sick, but I was NEVER hungry... So I guess if you start at my 9/10 week weight instead of my 4 week weight, I have gained 3kg... One of my friends told me I look like I've lost weight from arms/face etc... I guess it's just been redistributed!! ;)

Bubbles - Congrats on finding out it's a girl. I have a feeling I'm having a girl too - only 15 weeks to wait!

Yeah Nicole, what's your secret? At my 24 week appointment I'd put on 2.5kgs in 4 weeks although I'm sure a lot of that went on my chest! I'm dreading my 28 week one as I'm eating everything at the moment!

I've been really bad with sorting out antenatal classes - does anyone have a clue where to go in Kowloon for antenatal classes?

......bobbie

I'm going to Antenatal at the hospital (Tsan Yuk)... I MIGHT do another set of classes if I find it "inadequate" though... I do them in ummm... August or something? I dunno... I'll be around 30 weeks though. Maybe it's too late to do other classes after that, I dunno...

We're doing ours at Annerley (weekend classes, hubby can't leave work early during the week). They suggest the best time to do classes is from 28 weeks onwards...

I did my last antenatal classes at about 31 weeks and it was fine. Infact, it made it all the more relevant! There were about five other regular couples in our classes and we all ended up giving birth in the same week so 30 weeks is fine. I had a big stress that we were too late but we had plenty of time.

My hubby's taking half days off to come to some of these appointments. It gives him a bit of time out, and it means that we don't have to cram them into weekends and that... I'm currently working ALL day Saturday, and we're both involved with church on Sunday - so our weekends tend to be busy!! (at least MINE are - my hubby plays computer games all Saturday at the moment ;) ;) )
