Due July 2009

Welcome WMB0709!! I had an appointment at Queen Mary yesterday and I thought I was the only gwailo there and then I spotted another gwailo!!

She used the heart beat detection device and couldn't find a heartbeat. I, of course, panicked. Then she did a scan and we saw the little one flipping around. I was relieved.

Feeling a bit better today. Lets see what the afternoon brings! Have a great day.

Welcome to the club WMB0709~ this group of gals really has been helpful and great, I also joined this week and feeling relieved knowing I'm not alone out there.

Dear MisB- Hope you're feeling better now. I think we are just off by a couple days, and I totally feel you. Sometimes I can't eat anything for the whole day, only some milk and water to keep me up. Lost about 4~5lbs so far, so I am conscerned about how the baby's growing since I'm not seeing visible growth on my tummy, don't know if this is normal. I'll be getting the OSCAR exam on Monday, so we're praying that everything will be okay.
Glad to hear your check up went well. Hang in there ladies!

Have a great weekend!

Hello all mums to be

hi babymo

very happy to hear the scan went well - i was down with very bad cold at about 8 weeks and had to go on antibiotics as it was some kind of strain called microplasma.

i didn't know what i can and cannot take since i didn't get sick during my first pregnancy but my OB says paracetamol is fine - and thats about it! best cure (for me at least - take it easy, lots of rest & fluid, keep washing your hands and if you can get Sterimar (sea water nasal spray - Watsons/Mannings would have them) and keep flushing out the runny/stuffed nose. I took Berocca (from Watsons/Mannings) and it helped as it has loads of vitamins.

Be thankful you don't have a toddler to run after and deal with!!!
speedy recovery! xox

Hi Babymo, headaches are a common side effect of pregnancy. Although I have only had the occasional mild one, I know plenty of people that do get them when pregnant. Regarding what you can take, I would avoid everything, with the exception of paracetamol (however sometimes they do say to even avoid this in the first three months). Best to call the Ob or their clinic to ask what you can or can't take.
I am tending to get bad morning sickness on weekends (really weird). Definately nothing against my husband, but tends to be on Saturday and Sunday, and he has been great, basically being the full time parent when he is home with Emma. But Mon -Fri, I tend to have more energy, which works well as I can chase around after my Emma - maybe I am wearing myself out during the week and need weekend to recover. Hoping to avoid her sickness that she currently has (a mild cold), but so far so good.
Hope everyone is well - besides morning sickness, sounds like everyone is progessing well! Merry Chrissy everyone and happy new year
PS - went to Isola today (NICE!). Am looking forward to it at our next gathering. xoxox

thanks for the advice girls!

my doc did say take no tablets or pills if possible unless i am severely dying! and obviously i am not!

i am drinking a lot of warm water.. seems to be a bit better! planning to go home after work and have a nap!

Dear babymo, if you are feeling a bit 'off' (nausea), I also find some Ginger Ale helps. Also one or two Pretzels (thanks to Mazza's advice) are great. I think at this stage, sleep, sleep and more sleep is the best medicine for a headache, but I would also ask husband to gentley rub your temples in a circular motion, this can often releive a thumping headache pain (a good 5 or 10 minutes can often fix). I hope this helps. A foot rub, warm soup and long warm shower doesn't go astray either. I hope you feel better. xoxox

Hello Lovely Preggers Ladies!

Just a quick note to say that I had a scan this morning (my third one so far) and everything is progressing well. Baby measuring exactly the same as my original date - 8w1d. Nice heartbeat of 171bmp. Ultrasound pics are starting to look less like a blob and more "baby shaped" saw cute little arm and leg buds :-) So far, so good!

Sorry this is just a short "all about me" note but am racing around trying to get organised for Thursday. Hope everyone is having a great day so far and you're not feeling too sick. Babymo, I know how you feel with the lack of appetite. I'm exactly the same. Hope you are feeling less queasy today and you're managing to get on top of your nasty cold.

Only two more sleeps til Santa comes!

Hello Everyone and Merry Christmas!

I've been living in HK for about 1.5 years and am currently 7.5 weeks pregnant!!! Just had a scan 2 weeks ago and baby has a strong heartbeat :) Hope to be able to meet up with you ladies one day!!

Hello ladies! Woodstock07 and Hooney05, welcome to the group! I just joined recently as well... I moved here literally 5 weeks ago with my husband and found out I was pregnant 3 weeks into living here! So, these ladies have been very helpful with advice and doctor references..!
BabyMo- congratulations on the excellent news.. What a nice Christmas present!

Anyway, I have my scan on the 30th.. I think I will be about 6 weeks 4 days or something... I should see a heartbeat then right?? I dont have morning sickness or headaches.. just sore boobs and some mild cramps every now and then... so I am anxious to see what my next apt. will reveal!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Xmas! (if you celebrate of course!) Can't wait to meet everyone in Jan.

Happy Boxing Day! (and OSCAR Scan update)

Hi beautiful preggy peeps! Welcome to the newcomers as well! I hope everyone had a lovely day yesterday! Can't wait to see everyone in January!!

We went for our OSCAR Scan at Sanitorium Hospital on Tuesday with Dr. Danny Leung. What an amazing piece of equipment to show the little one a large plasma TV. Husband and I were in awe as we could see our baby (whom is the size of a lime at the moment) cross and uncross its legs and put its hands up to his face. And we have sucha good photo of the baby's head. It was awesome!! Also, the first time we heard the heart beat. We received the results the day after and everything is just great according to him!! If you are with Lucy Lord or Grance Cheung this is where they send you for the OSCAR Scan. Highly suggest him if you are having this scan. Costwise - it is the same anywhere if you are under 35 years of age!!
As for my cold - have had it for almost 2 weeks now. Guess cold last longer in our condition. Havne't taken anything for it - just lots of water, hot water with lemon, and more rest!!

Take care!!

Welcome Woodstock07!

MissB, what great news about your scan. It sounds absolutely amazing! I'm so glad everything went well. It must be a huge relief and great to get it all out of the way before Christmas too.

My 12 weeks scan and tests are booked in for Jan 19. My Doctor does it all himself and gives you the results immediately, which I was quite amazed about. My friend is seeing Lucy Lord and told me she has to wait for her results. I'm thinking maybe my Doctor must be trained in how to administer the tests or something. I have to do the blood tests an hour before my appointment so that he'll have the results when I see him and then he does the scan and everything. I'm looking forward to getting it all done. Hopefully it will all go OK.

I hope everyone is feeling well and enjoying the Christmas break!
