so tempted to do a Nifty now just to find the gender, but will wait. got my oscar tmr morning, let u all know how it goes! *crossing fingers*
 
hi ladies!

so results from oscar were good. ultrasound scan showed baby has a nice nasal bone structure and nuchal fold was thin. waiting for blood test results tmr, and will get a better picture. so far so good!
 
Hi everyone,

I am 5w1day pregnancy, due date will be 11th March 2015, haven't been to any hospital or clinic to confirm my pregnancy yet, wondering should I go this Sat to do the blood and urine test or should I wait till 6w to do the first ultra-sound test? Any mom can provide me any suggestion?

P.s I plan to go to private hospital for delivery and I am fully covered by my maternity insurance, my preference is to go to Matilda, haven't contact any OB yet, any recommendation? I really haven't got any clue about this, oh I forgot to mention that my waiting period is due to be finished by 5th.Dec 2014, so we still have to pay several check-ups before we could claim the rest few check-ups from the insurance company after the waiting period.

If you can, try and wait till you're about 7-8 weeks to visit a Dr. You should be able to see your little raspberry sized baby by then and hear a heartbeat.

Our Dr said the Home Pregnancy kits were 99% accurate and didn't bother doing any other test

I would get some folic acids from the pharmacy and a Multi Vitamin like Materna in the meantime

Wait till 7w or 8w, I wish I could, but someone still couldn't believe that he is going to be a father in 9 months, so he is expecting to see the official confirmation and then he could start to have his lovely drinks, poor him had to resist from alcohol and coffee for the passed whole year lol.

Currently I am talking only Materna multi-vitamins, no other extra folic acid pills, as I noticed that each Materna tablet contains 1mg folic acid already, isn't that enough for a pregnant woman? Because I heard taking too much folic acid is not good either, sorry I am being wrong, just haven't see any Dr yet, no idea about this field at all😳，plus no any friend in HK could discuss about. And I have to look after myself at home most time as I am a housewife, my husband is not from local either, so ...😔

Ok Poor Dad is in denial. We went to the first Dr appt fairly early. There's really not much they can see, and its going to cost you in the $600-1000 range so thought its best to wait a bit.

1 mg of Folic Acid should be fine.
 
Yeah, I checked with quality health care, for blood and urine test the cost is going to be 620 HKD , plus the doctor consultation charge 680HKD( even you don't really need to see the doctor at this early stage, but they require you to do so), really expensive, then some mothers from other forum do suggest me to check the progesterone rate, see if it is too high or too low, just in case I might need some special pills to keep the baby, I am really have no other symptoms, just tired and hungry always, don't know if I really need to do the blood and urine test just to make my husband feel it's confirmed than I made it up😁

I had my OSCAR scan today!!! It's turned into a NIFTY scan after the nurses sold us on it's benefits lol my twins are healthy and measuring well and it was so amazing to see them on ultrasound for such a long time :) gotta wait two weeks for the blood test results though. Dr Lam says it's most likely a boy and a girl :) argh !!!

Thanks girls!!! I ended up doing NIFTY because twins pregnancies are riskier... I think OSCAR would be sufficient for single pregnancies :) especially with your measurements turning out fine!

Hi all

I replied under dec due date club but I fall also under jan (depending on when baby will come). Actual due date is jan 1st but most likely baby will come early ie dec.

Anyway I am open to having a meet with the jan due date club girls too

Hi ladies,

I just found out yesterday that I am pregnant and my due date should be March 10, 2015! I am extremely exited as this is my first pregnancy and also very much looking forward to learn all the skills and knowledge to be a mommy.

I started to suspect that I am pregnant the moment I was 1 day late (I have a very regular period) and when my breast became tender. We first did a home pregnancy test which showed 2 lines and we also had it confirmed at the Sanatorium. The cost were $350 for the check-up and $490 for a blood test, much cheaper than Quality Healthcare.

Though I started my check-up at the Sanatorium I think I will deliver at QMH. I want a natural birth and QMH seems to be very supportive of that, also we live around the corner.

Anyway, I will very much look forward to share experiences with you ladies and keep in touch!

congrats to both on your pregnancies and looking forward to sharing this experience with you!

yukionna, there are a couple of us here who are also going to give birth at QMH, myself included, so hopefully can give you tips. I read that they have antenatal classes conducted in English at QMH, 4 classes on sats, sometime in November. If you're not planning on taking prvt classes, I suggest you register for the public ones soon, as spaces are limited. I will register myself with Tsan Yuk on Wednesday, and ask for more info regarding the classes.

Also, I think we all should plan a meet up sometime soon! I am on holiday till 20th aug, so can come out any day!

plus, @aprilbuddy, i know i mentioned pure yoga in the other post, have u joined it? is anyone doing prenatal at PURE centrium?
 
@lesiley, congrats on your pregnancy! i had an ultrasound early, though you dont see much of the bb, just a yolk sac. i think by 8 weeks you should get one ultrasound, baby will be visible by then and you may even hear its heartbeat!
 
Hi rosieposie, my due date is one day after yours! I am hoping my baby will come out in Jan so he can be ahead of class! Hahaha... Only wishful thinking as I am also going for natural delivery so he can come out any time!!

Hi Khangaroo, I ended up doing a trial class with yoga room and liked it there. I think I am going to do a 10 lesson package for $2000 and see how I can hold up to it. I didn't try pure as I don't want to sign a contract and pay a monthly fee.
