Cow's milk? What type do you give your baby?

My mum was told to give my brother boiled cows milk when she had BF problems!!!! (this was over 30 years ago!), and I know my grandmother had to use a 'wet nurse' when she had problems (over 60 years ago!!)......

hmmm...

i just keep thinking, what were babies fed before the invention of formula (if moms weren't BFing?)...

My mother couldn't breastfeed me and formula at the time was expensive/ not easily available so I had fresh cows milk after boiling since I was 1 week old. In most developing countries that is the norm, noone goes out buying formula, even new borns are given boiled cows milk if mum can't breastfeed.

My just turned 1 year old gets a mixture of Oat Milk, Soy Milk and Organic Cows milk, its mainly because I don't drink cows milk so he gets what we have open. He doesn't seem to mind which one he has. As I still have a tin of formula left I've been adding 1 scoop premixed with water to what ever milk he is having. I had been using soy milk and oat milk on his breakfast cereal since he was 10months old so he could get used to the taste.

Wellcome, 360 and City Super do organic fresh milk. They also do organic formula - plus Bumps to babes etc.

thanks i bought some HIPP organic for 49$ on sale at B2B

My baby doesn't really like it though, he turns his head away and does this 'ewww' face... sigh...

Does anyone have any tips?

Also, I was wondering, i know you're supposed to replace one BF session with one formula/milk feeding a day for at least a week to prevent engorgement and pump to relieve tension. But how much/how long do you pump for it be to 'relieving tension'? I only pump 5 minutes/both sides at work M-F anyways, so i'm not sure when to stop for it to be not tricking my mind into making more?

Check the expire date on HIPP organic sale tins, a friend bought one and it was due to expire the very next week! (sorry a bit of topic!)

Try mixing formula/breast milk with the cows milk and then over time reduce it. My son drinks soy milk, oat milk and cows milk and when I first started i put in 2 thirds formula and then toped it up with what ever milk I was using. Then I've slowly cut back on the formula and now I don't bother with it at all.

solidstars, I'd stop expressing. Your body will change to the new routine quite easily. If you do feel tension, may be just manual express a little bit.
