"You Getting So Fat La!"

For some reason, people lose all sense of tact when it comes to making comments about pregnant women. While I was pregnant, I was in the US and I gained about 46 lbs or so (I think I gained the prescribed 25 lbs in the first 5 months), and my co-workers who normally would not dream of commenting on my weight, would suddenly say things like "wow, you've really blown up", or "geez, you're about to drop the baby now?" or "how many months along are you? . . .you look like you're about to pop". Suddenly it seems like a free for all!

I admit, it hurt my feelings a little because after all what normal woman --pregnant or not, wants to be told that she looks fat? So the only way I dealt with it is I tried to eat healthy, took long walks as my exercise, and tried to keep an upbeat attitude, because I certainly did not want all that negative energy to affect baby's growth. Just make sure you're keeping yourself and baby healthy, and you're not in any health risk . . .if people still bother you, then say something like "you know my husband just loves my lush figure now, and it really makes me feel very sexy". Hopefully that will shut them up.

:haha:

Truth be told he doesn't care either way but I hate it.

Hi thanka2,

So are you getting your OGTT soon? My doctor scheduled mine 2 weeks from now and I'll be 25 weeks then. I hope that's not too soon because as I've been reading, most of you are getting it on your 30th week. Oh well, I guess my family history might be a factor.

Hope you and your baby are well :-)

My test is scheduled for the 3rd of January but I have to go in for a new follow-up appointment on Wednesday for something related to my back (I picked my 3-year-old up about over a month ago and pulled a muscle that runs along my ribs and it hasn't healed and after that I have had back spasms in the middle of my back that are incapacitating and painful so I have to go have that checked out). I will ask the doctor if he/she can reschedule my test to have it sooner (hopefully within the next couple of weeks). I think 25 weeks is a bit early for the test but like you said, if you have something in your family history they may want to test earlier--or if there are other factors (your pee test is consistently high for sugar). I also hope that your pregnancy is going along healthily. All the best!
