Yakult

Hi

My son loves Yakult? Is it good or bad for 2.3 year old kid? Is it ok for him to drink 1 or 2 a day?

Thanks/Neha

My son loves it too. It is good for digest, but i read from a magazine that doctors suggest max 2 per week because it is too sweet and will make them fat.

Yogurt is better than giving Yakult--Yakult's number one ingredient is sugar--so of course kids (and adults) like it. I don't know if your son would go for regular yogurt now that he's had the super sweet version, though but my son will eat yogurt very gladly--you can also dilute regular yogurt (adding fruit for flavoring and honey or stevia for sweetness) with water to make it into a drink--not as convenient as Yakult but a lot better--better on the child's insulin too!

i think it's too sweet for a small child; & honestly, if you're thinking of probiotics, yogurt is a better choice cos probiotic survive better in cold environment & yakult are usually not kept cold in the supermarkets. my daughter used to love it too, but i just don't keep around the house & offer yogurt or vitamin gummy bears.
