Would you choose FIS or GSIS

Spring 2012

My kid was accepted KG2 at FIS, GSIS.
I know both school are very good, so I am having tough time choosing..
Any comments are welcome!
Thanks.

Where do you see yourself living 5 years from now?
What languages do you expect your bub to speak?
How well does your bub handle stress?
Where do you live? Do you know GSIS is looking to move soon?
Its not easy to recommend without knowing something more about your situation.

Thanks howardcooms. Probably same for many expat in hk, I really not sure where we will be in 5years time. Depends on my husband job..
For launguage, I want her to speak good English first. Not have particular opinion on second language. About stress, I believe GSIS gives more stress? My kid is very independent and quick learner, but after all, she is still 3y old.. I believe GSIS will move to temporally move to wan chai next 4,5 years, so she will spend first 3ys in pok Fu lam and move to wan chai and peak afterward. Since we are living deepwater bay, those location are all not far , so as FIS. Any recommendation?

If you are happy for your kid to be monolingual and stress is not a major issue for you then I'd go with GSIS. More discipline and much higher stress on academics when compared with FIS.

GSIS does offer second languages - most obviously, German!

I have taught students from both schools.

FIS is really not very well regarded in terms of academics, and it has very few extra curricular offerings compared to other schools of the same size.

I would go for GSIS over FIS. Better to be at a high achieving school and be in the middle, results wise, than me top of the pack in a mid-performing school.
