woodland mid-levels

Hello, I am moving to HK from US soon and am looking for a good school for my 4 year old. Anyone got experience with woodland mid level school?

Any advice is appreciated.

Also, if you know any good apartment (specious and quiet, easy access to the school and transportation) around the woodland mid-levels, I am very interested.

You ask very vague questions but I'll try to help. That particular woodlands is a montessori school. My son went there for playgroup. it was ok but not good enough for us to continue going there. You really need to visit to make that kind of decision. You can always put her on the waiting list and then make a final decision later.

As for apartments, spacious and quiet both come at a big cost. It depends on what your budget and values are. Anything over 900 SF is considered luxury here. Caine Road, where woodlands is, is a very busy road but there are quieter streets around you could try. Mid-Levels is a very popular place to live.
 
We just moved from the US a few weeks ago- you will love it here!
We are living in corporate housing in the Mid-Levels not far from Caine Rd., but will be moving to our new apartment at the Bel-Air in Pokfulam next week. If you have young children and want quiet and space, I would definitely NOT recommend the Mid-Levels. The Mid-Levels are quite expensive and noisy and the pollution is very bad. I would suggest you consider (if you haven't already visited HK yet) taking a look at some of the nice areas on the southside of the island. The commute to Central (assuming you or your husband will work in Central) is only 20 or 30 minutes and you will find more space, quiet, nice buildings with lots of facilities for kids (playgrounds- indoor and outdoor, pools- indoor and outdoor, etc.) I would suggest you look at places in Repulse Bay, Tai Tam, Stanley, and Pokfulam. All of these places are very popular with expats and families, so you will find a very welcoming community of friends.

There are many great preschools on the southside too. I visited the Woodlands school at Repulse Bay (there are two in Repulse Bay, one is Montessori and the other is traditional). I really like the traditional one and will submit my application soon since there is a waitlist for the playgroup there (my son is only 19 mths.)

Thanks for your advice. Looks like I need to rethink about the location and preschool.

My husband works in central and I will be working in Kowloon - Olympic station. I like to stay in a place not too far from Central and Hong Kong MTR station, and close to a good preschool for my 4 year old.

I will go to HK soon to take a look at the different areas. If I stay in south side, will that be too far for me to get to work in Kowloon?

My son is in his second year at Woodlands and absolutely loves it, as do we. They're very professional and my son has come on leaps and bounds since joining. You do have to visit the school though as ?t's not for everyone but for us that little bit of structure and the Montessori teaching method has been great.
