Will my feet ever return to their pre-pregnancy size?

My shoe size post-pregnancy is about a full size larger than it was pre-pregnancy. I had heard of this possibility (but didn't think it would actually happen!)
None of my shoes fit and I am considering having them stretched to try and salvage them. Has anyone had this problem and had their feet return to their original size? Should I wait it out or stretch them out?
And, has anyone had their shoes stretched to fit (an entire size)? If so, where would you recommend I try?
Thanks!

I am now a full size larger than before I had a baby. If it helps, some of my shoes (that I didn't throw out bc there was no hope for them) 'just' fit. It seems to be a permanent thing, I'm sorry. I'm just as disappointed.

Mine didn't go back, my feet are a size bigger now. I just gave away about 30 pairs of shoes.

I think it depends on the individual, like stretch marks.

Mine went back to their original size after about a year. I'm glad I didn't throw away all my shoes.

I'd give it sometime (9 months to a year?) before throwing away your entire shoe collection. Then again, shoe shopping is so much fun..

mine haven't gone back to pre-pregnancy size..they have actually grown some more with pregnancy #2!
the shoes i was hanging onto just in case have all just been handed on to my sister :o(

I kept hoping that my feet will go back to my pre-pregancy size, but still hasn't happened. Now after two babies in 3 years, I think it is hopeless. It's heartbreaking to get rid of all my Manolos...

I must be weird, my shoe size didn't change at all - except for about 2 weeks of swollen feet when I was pregnant.

Mine didnt go back too!

what about fingers? my baby is one month old and i was shocked to discover that i still cant wear my wedding band! and it's the knuckle that it cant go past not the fleshy part. my ring size must have gone up 1 and a half! so sad

Thanks for the responses...I will keep hoping that they return to their previous size, but won't hold my breath. Anyone have a suggestion for a cobbler who can stretch shoes (about a full size)?
Thanks again!

Oh, this confirms so much. My feet are bigger now too. My fingers are finally starting to get smaller but I think that there is no hope for my wedding band so I'll likely have to have that re-sized. As it has been already nearly two years I'm not bettin' on my shoe size going back down either so I'd better look for a place to donate those shoes. But hey, the bright side is that now I can have an excuse to buy new shoes! Yay!

Why it Happens:

I was curious about why post-pregnancy shoe sizes can be bigger than pre-pregnancy and apparently it's all the fault of the hormone relaxin which loosens up your ligaments before birth but they also can cause fallen arches and basically flattens out and elongates your feet. According to the article I read, this happens to 1/2 to 3/4 of all pregnant women.

The article I read is here: Why do your feet get bigger during pregnancy? | Everything you always wanted to know about pregnancy but were afraid to ask

My feet definitely went up a size, but it was mainly in terms of width. I took my shoes that I just couldn't bear to part with to the lanes between central station and pedder building and had them stretched. It helped a lot and I can wear most of the nicer ones for an night out with a bit of suffering towards the end...
