Which type of pear?

I know that pears are usually recommended as a good first food to try when weaning and moving to solids, but does it matter which type of pear? There seem to be many different types, and some taste very sweet while others are moderately sweet, and I am wondering if they are all suitable as a "first food", or is there any one type that is better than others?

Thanks.

We avoided everything sweet when we first started. So we started with parsnip, broccoli and spinach. Carrots were the only sweet item we tried and that was just used to ease the taste of spinach and broccoli.
Today my bub eats all vegies and fruit as a result. So, I'd say go with the least sweet pear.

i started with apple. then pear. i also had the concern as spockey, but since i chose to introduce fruits first which was easier to digest (can be easily digested when raw, when i started giving it to my baby, i cooked both apple & pear) brocolli sometimes gives gas.

i used the very green pear (soft ripe ones), steamed.

Agree with Spockey- also avoided fruits until had first introduced vegetables. Carrots, sweet potato, courgettes, brocoli, potatoes. Was advised to introduce vege. such as courgettes early on as they tend to be a vege. children refuse to eat later on.
