hi ,

our child just born a few months ago and many people recommended us to enroll to school.
I am a little bit surprise but i did check with Yew Chung school. They mentioned that there are long waiting lists for the enrollment....We should start apply now...

I would like to ask your opinion if any school beside from Yew chung in Kowloon tong is good for expat kids? We only knew that good schools are in Kowloon Tong...but nothing else...

your comments would be really helpful...
thanksss.....

yew chung is one of the MOST expensive schools in all of hong kong, if not THE most expensive.

there are a lot of schools in kowloon tong.

are you talking about kindergartens or primary schools?

at this moment..we are looking for kindergartens...

but for long term, i realised that school that has from kindergarten til primary and secondary seem to be good for children...what do you think?

thank yoU!!! ; )

for kindergarten, you need to decide what suits you and what you want from a kindergarten.

you need to rate which of the following is most important to you:

1) native languages spoken by teachers
2) size of class (# of students)
3) size of school
4) parent/teacher interaction
5) outdoor area
6) mission of the school
7) curriculum offered
8) competion to gain admittance
9) happiness of current students
10) emphasis on learning through play/rote/memorisation
11) does the school encourage creativity?
12) is the school church affiliated? do you want it to be?
13) do you want more than one language taught?
14) fees?

as you can see, there are many things to consider, when looking at a kindergarten. i would suggest that you go with your little one now and have a look around at the various schools. ask the principal to show you around and gather all of the forms etc. then go home and think about it. speak to your husband. THEN submit the forms to the schools that you are interested in.

good luck!
