Hello,

I'm a working mum and am thinking of enrolling my 4-month old baby in a playgroup on a Saturday (which I can also attend with her).

The problem is, there are so many options out there (Kindermusik, Gymbaroo/Kindyroo, gymboree, pekip), I'm not sure which one is good/recommended.

If anyone has any comments on the above playgroups, I would appreciate it.

Thanks!

playgroups under 6 mths

hi,

i'm a new mom with a 7 wks baby girl. i've got the same issue as you did before. so would you please advice which playgroup(s) you end up sending your baby to? and what's your comments towards them?

cheers,
Florence

I would vote for Pekip. It is a programme specialised for infants, cater for non-mobile babies (6 weeks-10mths approx). My 9 mth old had finished their class last month and achieved quite a lot. As she can crawl, cruise and stand now, I probably enroll Kindermusik or Gymboree next month which should involves a lot more jumping(bouncy castle), dancing etc.

pekip

i've heard of Pekip too...yet Anne seems 'famous' of her bad attitude...in particular towards non-Caucasian. her course seesm unique, yet it's costly compare to the overall effectiveness. plus the air conditioning and hygiene is a concern factor too...

i also second pekip. anne is nice, her tone of voice is quite direct. i think it's because she's german, and english is not her first language. when we were there, she was nice but a little tough my baby.

but pekip was probably the best class my daughter has taken. my friend recommended it. his husband enrolled their son at 3 mths to loads of play groups, but when the son was 2, i asked my friend which one class she'd recommend, she said pekip. cos it's for their safety.

once an infant attended the pekip class, he's better at balancing, breaking a fall, etc.

hi premama,
i'm also a working mum so i know how you feel. My daughter is now 19mths and we started going to playgroups at about 6 mths cause MOST playgroups held on sat (especially GOOD ones have LONG waiting list).

Depending what you want to achieve, I would recommend BOTH Kindermusik and JWT Kids Gym both located in Central. We attended both courses and we both enjoyed the classes very much.

Kindermusik is a wonderful bonding experience for parent and child. By singing, rocking, moving, and exploring simple instruments, parent and child discover the joys of music together. And it's never too young to learn to enjoy music, the instructor at Central are great also.
While JWT Kids focus more on Physical movement(s) suitable for your age group and plenty of facilities and wonderful trainers especially Peter.
Check out there website:

And I suggest you attend a trial class prior to joining.

I wonder if anyone has any recommendations for playgroups in the kowloon tong area? We are currently living on HK side but will be moving soon......bub is about 8 months old, and I would likehim to start playgroup at 10 months ....

recommednations appreciated !!

konradsmom,

There are a few courses available however you must bear in mind summer is around the corner so some courses will finish soon. Some centres might run summer course(s) but you must check.

Kids Gallery have some wonderful courses which my daughter is attending i.e. Bookstarts, Creative play but for your bub is too young. They have a course called toddler time for 12-18mths.
Try the website:http://www.kidsgallery.com/kowloon/early_learners/toddler_time_kln.htm
Then there are:
Yew Chung International school (from 6 mths)

Victoria Educational Organization (but my daughter has been on waiting list since sep 07)

Another mum mentioned PIPS in TST:
