which nationality?

can anyone answer my Q? My hubby is HKPR and if i am going to give birth outside HK does my baby is carrying my hubby's visa(HKPR) and not a dependant visa.

true, if you hold a Cdn/UK/US/AUS etc passport, then a HKSAR passport is unnecessary. However, if you don't hold one of these (easy-to-get-visas-with) passport, then having the OPTION/ABILITY to get a HKSAR passport is of GREAT importance!! Think of all the visa-free countries one can travel to with a SAR pass, not to mention the ease of traveling to China.

Basically, if you already hold a "first-world" passport/citizenship, it would be irrelevant. However, not everyone in HK (or born in HK) is from a first world country (by nationality) and traveling with these passports can be very frustrating. (i know, my husband holds a "visa-restrictive" passport and it's a b****h getting/applying for visas for EVERYWHERE - - - even tho he has his PR in HK. he's not eligible for a HKSAR pass b/c he's not ethnic chinese.

Compared to a BNO passport, the SAR passport is much easier to travel with. The BNO is only good for going to the UK, elsewhere in Europe you have to pay for a visa whereas SAR you travel without having to prior apply & pay for a visa.

hubby didn't have to pay for a visa to italy...but that may have changed, it was about 10 years ago...

Visas for lots of places are cheaper w/ a HK passport than a UK/US one. Or if you get hijacked/taken hostage by mad psysho extremist terrorists w/a bone to pick w/ the UK/US then you might be quite grateful to be carrying a HK passport too.
