Which milk do you buy?

Hi, I really scare Chinese products, and normally buy
Japanese vegetables and things for my family (i am Japanese, and mostly shop at Jusco and Sogo).

For milk, Japanese milk is very expensive for us (about HK$40 for 1 litter), so can anyone recommend good and safe milk for us?

We are now using PURA (australian) pack. We use square pack which can be kept for long. It cost only around HK$14 at local shop, but not sure if it is good milk or not.

Please advise!!!

We use the PnS "Select" brand which is out of Aussie. Comes in a 3L pack, maybe HK30. I think any milk out of Aussie would be fine.

We use the longlife Pauls milk or Welcome's First Choice - I think both are from Australia. We use the long life UHT cartons as had some bad experiences with the ones in the fridges at the supermarkets here.

We buy Pura milk too - the Pura Slim one.

I agree with Sleuth - I think any milk from Australia would be good quality.

So happy to find this thread! We moved here three weeks ago from the US and I had been buying Pura for my 19 mth old son (he drinks about 21 oz. a day of milk). All of his bowel movements started being loose and he had terrible gas. I switched to the Kowloon Dairy brand and have not had anymore problems. Should I be worried about buying Chinese milk? Did anyone had any similar problems with milk when they first arrived?

We try to avoid Chinese food in general. It isn't that it is all unsafe, it is that you just don't know so why take the chance.

I now buy powdered milk from a US supplier called Providence Pantry, but before that I stuck to the Paul's Australian brand of shelf-stable milk and we were very happy with it. Providence Pantry is available on www.beprepared.com.

When the kids were between 1 and 2 - we bought various fresh milks - Kowloon Dairy, Trappist, whatever.

Once the kids turned 2, we switched to UHT skim milk - whatever is cheapest that week. Most of it appears to come from Australia.
