Which is the best light weight stroller for new born?

Hi ladies,

Which is the best and most reasonably priced light weight stroller for a new born to one year?

I know I might be asking too much but am keen for a multipurpose one so I dont need to buy three!!!

Thanks in advance.

Take care, trace

We've been looking at prams too...We like the look of the Graco, which is light weight (5kg), very easy to fold, and looks like it'd be good for getting around HK (we went to a few shops and tested them!). It was for newborn to 2/3 years old and around HK$1100.

If anyone has any other suggestions I'm interested to hear as well!

I've am currently using a Maclaren Techno XT in England and I can't fault it apart from the small shopping basket. Not sure if it's suitable for HK but you can purchase one from Mothercare for around $1700.00.

i'm using the Peg Perego Aria, super light weight! (10 lbs) easy to fold plus HUGE basket compare to the combi ones i've seen. However, not quite for new born since it doesnt recline flat, but almost.. it says 3 months up.

If you take a lot of taxis, I found one that a Maxi cosi or similar car seat fits into vital. You can wear them in a sling or bjorn, but it's not that safe. I was a in a taxi accident and though it was only a small one, I was glad she was in the maxi cosi.
It's not too hard to manage as you just pop the car seat into the cab and deal with the other stroller piece.

Mcalren MX3 - i have this and you can use it from 0 - 6 years - it is 3 wheels and very light

The MX3 is 9.8kg WITHOUT hood, shopping basket or raincover!

My Techno XT is only 6.5kg without hood, basket and raincover.

Mine is from Combi, weighted 2.6kg, can be open and close with one hand and use from Day one. I don't think they carry the same model now but my friend just got one which weight 3.5kg with similar function.

We bought a Graco because it was light weight, collapsed with one-hand and also fit through the turnstiles of the MTR. Since it is skinny enough for th rturnstiles, it also is skinny enough to fit through the elevator posts.
We were going to get a McLaren until someone pointed out the hassle of trying to get it to train. We hadn't even thought of that aspect.
Yes, you can go through the bigger gates, but they are not always conveniently located and often there is a line of people who also think they need to use them. Ditto for elevators.

I have the Maclaren Techno XT and as great as it is, it is just too heavy for me to lift up the random sets of stairs you find around Hong Kong. My daughter is just over 15 lbs and with the stroller, it's too heavy to lift. I'm considering the Combi now because it's super lightweight and SO easy to open and shut with just one hand. But the price ($29XX) is a bit steep...so still thinking about it. And it's only good til 2.5 years of age.

We currently have a Graco Mirage, which we love but since we got it second (technically 4th) hand it's started to jam a lot (can't open it with one hand, brake is iffy, quite bulky to carry) Best feature for me are the biggish wheels as they're great on HK pavements.

We've been looking at the Silver Cross Dazzle (available only at babies r us.) for a long-term replacement (as its suitable from birth - toddler) and when we have another one we'll just get an infant carrier to go on top. There are catalogues next to the sales display about it in toysrus and so far it looks great but will be researching it more -- shall update. I like the fact that so many of its features are hidden like the shopping basket (which is a must if you travel lots as we keep our baby bjorn in it for when we need to use taxis/buses) Does anyone have any feedback regarding this stroller?

I know the folks at mothercare and bumps to babes will happily help you choose/try them out.

Found the Catalogue!
Here are the specs. for the Dazzle as the catalogue has them;

Unfolded Dimensions:
Weight; 6.8kg
Width; 19.3"
Height; 38.2"
Length; 23.3"

Folded Dimensions
Width; 10.6"
Depth; 15.7"
Length; 40.5"

Seems pretty compact to me!
