where to begin?

Have just found out I am pregnant ... I have done a home test and am planning on going to a doc this week to confirm.

What will s/he do at the appointment (blood/urine test??) and what happens from there? Do I then need to be referred to someone else? Or do I wait till later for that part?

Would appreciate any words of advice! Thanks!
 
as soon as i did the home test, i made an appt with the local Maternal and Child Health Centre....they did all the info collecting and then refered me to Tsan Yuk...

but that is if you are planning on going public...
 
Congratulations!!!!

I'd wait till you're in yr 7th week before visiting the Dr. I went early, and it was a bit of a waste. We didn't do a blood/urine test as the Dr said home pregnancy tests are fairly accurate. He recommended a few pregnancy books and that was it.
The next appt was a lot more memorable. We heard the baby's heartbeat and daddy got all teary eyed. :bawling:

Do get some Folic Acid ASAP. I got a bottle from the local pharamcy.
 
Local Maternal and Child Health Centre - locations?

HI. I live in Quarry Bay/ Tai Koo Shing. How do I find out about my nearest clinic? BTW I dont mind travelling to Central or Wanchai (it's a quick bus ride) if the clinics there are more English-speaking than those on my side of the island (although there's a fair number of expats here, there's a pretty local feel).
