When to wear shoes?

My 9 month old has started walking along whilst holding onto the furniture and also loves walking whilst holding my hands.

When do i need to think of shoes for her? Any recommendations on type/shops?

Thanks

Mum with sore back!!

i did soft soled shoes until my kids were about 12 months. (they both started walking solo at 10.5 months).

at one year, i started getting progressively harder soles as they both were trying to run...

my girl is now 18 months and wears "normal" shoes, albeit smaller to fit her feet(LOL!)

i agree with cara, soft soles and not proper shoes for at least 6 weeks after they start walking by themselves. I'm not sure what is available in HK - I like Clarks from Australia, StrideRite from the States...sorry I can't recommend any shops...

For soft soles, I like pediped and jacknlily shoes. I think I saw some pediped in bumps to babes and jacknlily at citysuper ifc

I used soft soled shoes (robeez) when we went to in indoor playground or something similar, hard soled shoes once they were actually walking independantly and walking outside over 1 year for my children) and at home, bare feet or socks.

recent studies suggest that wearing shoes except to protect the feet causes gait problems and discourages the normal development of the foot, so babies anf kids should only wear shoes outside/when walking somewhere they may hurt their feet. I know it was in the wall st journal and I'll look for some links if I have time today.
