What's a birth plan?

Just remember to be flexible in your birth plan. Things don't always go according to the birth plan! My birth plan was to plan on the worst and hope for the best!

B plan

A birth plan is a document you give to your Dr. and everyone at the hospital to explain exactly how you want your birth to go. It is important to have when they ignore your wishes and you want a document so you feel really justified when you go bonkers on them after.

Seriously, it can really help you to clarify your thinking about what you want and raise questions you hadn't considered. babycenter.com has one you can download or do on-line.

"How to write a Birth Plan" by Anna

This is the document I used for my own birthplans.

I discussed it w/ my doctors & gave a copy to her (2nd time, him) before my labor started (a week or 2). I also broght copies and gave at least one to the head midwife when I arrived at the labor ward.

When I gave birth at PWH back in 1998, it seemed a little unusual to them, but they were very nice and the ones w/ better English translated it into Chinese (verbally) for the other staff.
