What would be on your get-ready-for-a-baby shopping list?

Thanks so much! So helpful when i her what brands people went for - makes the decision making process so much easier.

Baby towels with hoods are unnecessary - what a shame, I was looking forward to taking some cute baby in the hooded towel pictures!!

I think the thing is that we all have different ideas of what is necessary, but if you want something, then don't not get it beacuse one of us says it's pointless (yes, hoods with towels are unnecessary, but they do make cute photos as you say!)

Just enjoy the experienc of looking around all the stores and deciding what to buy (and don't forget about all the gifts you'll get!)

If you're on a tight budget, then yes, you can do without hooded towels (and a million other things). But if you're not too worried about the money, then go for it. Especially when it's your first baby, the researching and buying is so much fun.

My rule of thumb in shopping: is it a nice to have or a must have? That weeds out impulse purchases & makes you think twice if really need a hooded towel for example. Once I'm done with the must haves I throw in one or two nice to have as a treat.

Try to stick to as much white clothes and sheets as possible for newborns. You can wash them in higher temperatures without the colors running. I would choose organic cotton clothes and sheets as well since the quality is much better and they last longer (for the next baby maybe;))

personally, i loved the colorful clothes for babies... don't remember having anything white for my kids, except a couple of "under onesies"
