This might sound like a completely obvious, and/or stupid question, but I would like some advice on what type of sheets to buy for the moses basket/cot... I have no idea what the difference is between terry and flannelette! I have never used anything other than cotton sheets.... shoud I be buying the same thing for the baby? Or are terry or flannelett 'better'?

I think cotton is fine. Terry is a kind of like towel material and flannelette is a more thickish material compared to cotton. Actually I've only ever seen cotton sheets. The basket/bassinets only last for about 3 months or so before you move your baby to the cot, so you can buy cheap and simple flat sheets for the basket.

For my son's bassinet, I used a large king-sized pillow slip. (the mattress just happenned to be pillow-sized). It was great cos I didn't have to buy anything new. I also put a cloth nappy on top of the mattress - just under his head and mouth so that any milk could be caught. It saved washing the slip everyday!
