I thnk interviews really prevail in the more local kindergartens. My son has been to 2 already for next years's K1 , and I can tell you there are a list of criteria or factors they give points for:-
1. Ability to sit separately from parent on his/her own seat
2. Willingness to talk and respond to other people/questions
3. knowledge of animals/fruits and shapes, for some extreme cases, ability so tell stories, finger dexterity ( how they play with toys)
4. Able to answer "whats your name" and "how old are you"
5. If a dad takes the kid to interview, this is a bonus point
6. Lastly - where the father/mother went to school ( mostly for the "prestigious" local kindergartens).
