Can someone please advise what would be fair weekly compensation for a P/T helper that works 5 days a week (M-F) from noon - 6. Her duties include maintaining the house, cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping.

Thank you.

it will be quite difficult to find a legal part time helper from the PH, unless she is a permanent resident or a dependent.

my legal part-time (local, not from PH), i started @ $55/hour for 2 hours/day. after 3 months she went up to $70/hour, for 2-3 hours/day, 5 days/week.

she's been with me for almost 4 years. i pay her more because (1) she's good, (2) she doesn't need to be micromanaged, (3) she's flexible --- does more hours if more are needed, (4) she's reliable ---she's missed 1 day of work in the past 4 years.

Hi Carang,
When you say local , do you mean your helper is from local- Chinese?
Thanks,

Our helper is local Cantonese, and we pay 450 a day each day she works. Which is about 5-6 hours at a time.

An employee who has been employed continuously by the same employer for four weeks or more, with at least 18 hours worked in each week is regarded as being employed under a continuous contract.
