Veggies

Hi,

I want to start mixing a little veggie (Choi Sum) into my baby's rice cereal. She is now just over six months and has been having some rice cereal for a week or so now. Any tips on how I should prepare the veggie. Should I boil it first and then puree it? I heard that steaming (followed by puree) is better.

I usually steam cook my veggies, pur?e them, and freeze them into ice cubes.

problem with boiling is that most of the nutrients leave the veg and end up in the water.... so, yes, steaming is better.

Steaming is better. I'd also be careful with nitrate levels in choi sum. I did a quick google, and some sites group choi sum with spinach and the like, so maybe introduce other vegetables first? Definitely do not keep the water after steaming (which I do for other vegetables).

would steam for sure - perhaps starting with other veggies would be better though?!? carrots are a good one to start with...
