hi all,
We are due to arrive in Hongkong in 4 weeks time and I was wondering if Vegemite is difficult to buy there and if it is very expensive? My son is obsessed with it and I'm considering bringing some along. Can any other Aussies please help me? Also is there anything in particular which you have found difficult to get in HK which we should consider bringing? My daughter is five and three quarters and my son two and a half.
Thankyou,
Sally.:thanks

You can get Vegemite easily at either of the two big supermarket chains, Wellcome and ParknShop in the supermarkets that are well frequented by expats. I worked at a client at Northpoint for a while and you couldn't get it there, along with a few other things. But other stores like South side, Pokfulam, Discovery Bay, etc should all have it.

I think I have also seen it Olivers and Great (specialty supermarkets).

We love our Vegemite too :agree: .

I think you will find Hong Kong well stocked with everything you'll need. You might miss, say, Twisties, Caramello Koalas, etc., but there is nothing you NEED that you can't get here.

Vegemite is very easy to find, though you can't get huge jars like in Oz.
Not much more expensive so not really worth bringing in.
Some things like Weetbix, which I can't live without, are sold under a different name ( Bixies ) and are available at certain supermarkets (Oliver's and Threesixty).

Jane01, I found Caramello Koalas the other day!! I was so excited!
Chicken on the Run (the Aussie takeaway shop on the escalator) now sells Cherry Ripes, Peppermint Crisps, Violet Crumbles, Wagon Wheels, Freddo Frogs and Caramello Koalas!
