Hi All,

Is there any vaccination they administer to the 9 month pregnant woman here in hong kong. Not sure what it is for..Just curious.

Not sure at all.. But folks back home said they had one at 8-9 months..have no details abt it..
But., what is the flu shot?

Well, during flu season they might recommend that pregnant women get a vaccination against flu as immunity is weaker. Don't think it's specifically at 9 months though. I was offered one during my pregnancy but declined. At one point, they were also offering a vaccine against "swine flu" when there was that scare.

I had the flu shot when I was pregnant 2.5 yrs ago (shortly after swine flu). It was recommended, and was free for me since I was pregnant. I did my research and felt that the benefits outweighed the risks, however I did it at about 3-4 months pregnant. I don't know if it is recommended at 9 months, you'd have to ask your doctor.

Just found out its the Tetanus Shot. This protects both baby n mother. Did anybody get it here in hong kong??

A tetanus and diphtheria (Td) jab may be given if the mother has not previously been vaccinated or had a booster in something like the last 10 years, or if the mother gets a deep/ contaminated cut during pregnancy. Otherwise, unnecessary. If you're concerned, just ask your doctor. I was asked whether I had a Td vaccination and when pretty early on in pregnancy by my OB and did not get one during pregnancy.
