hello,
need urgent help. we are relatively new to hong kong and have just found out that our baby has a very serious and fatal foetal defect and need to terminate the pregnancy. I am currently 18 weeks pregnant.
Can someone please share who is the best person to go to for a D&E in Hong Kong? Really need a specialist as we have heard that there could be a risk to future fertility if the procedure is not done right. We are going through a very difficult time and are totally distraught and would appreciate any advice from someone who has gone through a similar experience,,,

I am really sorry that you are going through this - did your obstetrician not have any recommendations for you? I think that would be the best route to go - explain that you want the best person for the job and they will be able to assist. Again, just very sad news and I'm so sorry.

Sorry to hear that, You can contact Dr Edmond Hon @ 28992293. He is a very experienced ob in situation like this. He was formally from QM so he is very experience.

Sorry to hear that, we please cheer up as I had a almost similar case in late 2006 too and now I am due to give birth on Nov 12.

thank you for your kind messages.

mumto2 - - my obstetrician recommended that we terminate the pregnancy with an actual delivery. but there is no way I can emotionally go through the motions of labour especially given that it takes much longer. i can't even imagine it at this point. thats why we are now looking for someone experienced with D&E's.

thanks Rani for the recommendation - I guess I will contact Dr Ghosh and find out his statisitics on such procedures.

After all the glowing reports on Dr Arabinda Ghosh on this website I am really shocked at his approach. We had actually gone to him for our inital check ups till I completed 2 months.
When I called him today to update him and see if he could do a D&E for us versus induction - he very brusquely said - speak to your current doctor! I again asked if he could offer his advice/opinion on the 2 methods and he just said - speak to your other doctor not to me and ended the conversation!
I am so upset that a time like this, this was all he could 'offer'.

Sorry to hear about your situtation

Hi,

Maybe you can try Dr. Raymond Ng. He is very careful but he also doesn't sccare people. In my opinion he is very good as I have gone to see different OBs for my 2 pregnancies and he is one that I find to be very conscientious about his work. He is also a consultant to the the American Consulate. He doesn't do his work based on how much you pay rather what is best for you.

Wish you the best of luck. I can't imagine what you are going through right now.

Valerie

Shelley, Really sorry. He can be a bit abrupt at times. Hope Roshna had a better recommendation.

Shelley, I am very sorry to hear about what you are going through...I would 2nd the recommendation for Dr. Hon mentioned earlier. He recently did my emergency c-section and was very very good and excellent bedside manner. Apparently he used to one of the head obstetrics at QMH. I had not met him prior to my recent surgery and in a difficult and stressful time, he was truly excellent. Good luck...

Like to Suggest Dr Patrick Chan, he has excellent bedside manner plus also he is extremely knowledgeable and helpful and put both my husband and myself at ease. He is located in Central. Try giving him a call and wish you the best. 2522 2500, his rates are also very reasonale.
