Until what age do you sterilize bottles?

My son is 14 months old and still takes a bottle in the morning, afternoon and evening - though I will plan to cut out the afternoon bottle soon. Do I still need to be sterilizing his bottles now? Thanks.
 
Most advice I have read suggests that after 6 months of age you don't really need to sterilise bottles anymore.

I was actually going to post a similar thread this week as my daughter is now 6 months and I was going to keep sterilising for now but I wondered whether there is any disadvantage to doing so. I know some people have theories that it is actually good for a baby's immune system to be exposed to bacteria etc.
 
I suppose that since my son drinks water from a sippy cup that I don't sterilize it would be ok for him to drink milk from a bottle that is not sterilized......
 
You can stop when he starts eating solids... unless you also want to sterilize his spoon, plates etc...
 
Read that around 6 months, and mostly, once the baby starts picking up stuffs to put in his/her mouth.
 
i continued to sterilize my son's bottles and pacifiers until around 18 months. I had the sterilizer so there was no harm in doing it - takes 2 seconds.
 
i sterilized until 1 years old and then kind of let it slide a bit because she was starting to drink from a sippy cup...
 
so for those that stop sterilizing...you just wash and then let it dry and reuse? or do you rinse it with boiled water after washing? thanks!!
 
its easier or u have to use brushes to clean all bits n pieces and alsso the formula bad smell goes by boiling..
 
I have a doctor friend that never sterilised a thing and her babies never had any problems so suspect it is a practice that isn't really necessary in any case but more a case of better safe than sorry
