unaccompanied pre-school?

I overheard a mum the other day talking about a pre-school that her daughter used to go to unaccompanied from the age of 18-months. I think she said it was called Stepping Stones. I've done a search and can't find anything called this...anyone know of this school or another where the kids go unassisted (rather than be accompanied by a parent/guardian?).

I know I should have asked her, but I was in a hurry!

I sent my 21 months old girl to Children's Own Workshop in Causeway Bay...unaccompanied for 2 hours from 10am to 12pm.

She has been attending for the past 1 week, 5 days a week and still cry when I leave.. but recently she has been all smiles whenever I pick her up. Infact I can hear her loud and cheerful "Goodbye, see you tomorrow" to her teachers and friends' even before I see her!

Give it a try and see if it works for you cos I am really enjoying my two hours break.. not relaxing though but running lots of OVER DUE errands without a 14kg load round my arms!

Stepping stones is one of the classes at Woodlands. I don't think the kids can go unaccompanied until 2 years and a bit.

Arwen, what is Children's Own Workshop? Is it a playgym, playgroup or art workshop? My son is almost 21 mths old and I am quite interested to send him for an "unaccompanied" class.

Children's Own Workshop is at One Hysan Avenue, or Tel 25044833.
It' s a Montessori method of teaching for playgroup.. hee hee.. I am new to this montesorri thing so cannot comment much. Also, since I have not been joining her in classes, I have not been able to monitor her progress.. gee,, maybe it's time I ask for a progress report?

anyway, my aim is to let her have fun (which she is obviously having), learn to socialise with other kids, expose her to Putonghua, train her up to be less sticky of me and more importantly for me to have 2 hours of "me" time.

The fees are abit high at HKD3,800 five days a week for 2 hours each day.

To add further,
They will have circle time, break up into smaller group to have lesson on alphabet/painting/explore toys.. the 2nd hour she will attend Putonghua sessions that are structured just like the earlier session.
It is still too early for me to comment on the effectiveness of this playgroup.. but so far.. my girl is happy.. this is what matters to me.
